I don't keep up with all the posts so if this topic has been discussed ad nauseum I apologize. However I HATE the way the developers decided to have a civilization conviently "surrender" to another civ that isn't at war with them because "it is their best hope for survival". That is really, really cheap guys. I don't feel that it is even close to realistic and while I won't go so far as to say that that "tactic" is cheating it is designed to put the human player at a disadvantage. If vassal

I can see the idea of a literal resource that gives bonus to your economy, military and even to your moral. These kind of resources exist here and now in today's reality. In fact in the future we will no doubt find new resources that do the same things. However, can anyone name a resource that when harvested directly contributes to a nation's influence and nothing else (oil, natural gas, etc... don't count because they are also economic resources).

Has anyone denied the existence of bugs? Has anyone played a pc game in the last 10 years that didn't some kind of bug or abnormality once in a while? People that finicky about "bugs" need to play console games on XBOX, PS, Nintendo, whatever... Better yet follow the instructions provided by this website for posting bugs and quit your pissing and moaning!!!!!! This is a game for fun and relaxing at the end of the day it is irrelevant in and of itsel

I found out about Gal Civ I from a google search for 4x space games. The first game did not quite live up to my expectations, although it was enjoyable for awhile, but when I found out a second game was planned I waited a year pre-ordered Gal Civ II and have been very pleased since.

I agree that starbases are too much like "powerups". I would go so far and say that galactic resources make no real sense unless they were resources that could be mined from a planet's moon(s) or rings or even from an asteroid field.

A working knowledge of the tech tree will allow you to space out what your research so that you don't get upgrades you don't need yet. I find heading too much in one direction on the tech tree gets too costly in time and infrastructure, unless of course you invest heavily in diplomacy.

I think three different types of starbases add a bit of flexibility/strategy in the game, however I also feel that it is a bit redundant as well. If you build an economic starbase why can't it also be an influence starbase as well. If freighters are passing through would they not also be able to spread your culture through manufactured goods? So wouldn't each economic and influence starbase be better if they were combined into one type of starbase o
