I'll have to say I'm not a fan of the current economic model - it 'forces' you to play a certain style now. Before you have more flexability on creating building or developing planets - now its more of "sit and watch them grow". I thin kthe maintenance costs of the planet improvements is too high and should be modified based upon ifyou have a small or large empire. This being said -to balance things out - you also have to modify your income - number of trade routes should scal

I think the colony rush is critical for large and "larger" maps. You hav eto build up a suffcient production base to fend off attack incase you happen to border an empire who is hostile.
yep - you can't steal tech in the campaign. Don't know why this is though.

Hi I've been playing the single campaign since the game got release and I have several CTD errors on one senario - this is the senario where you are looking the last shard accross the glaaxy. I've double checked I have the latest video drivers - and I recently played with almost all the video graphic settings turned "off" and still got a crash. It doesn't seem to one specific action that triggers the CTD - I've been on the research tree- on

Reloading just causes the bug to post pone to the next combat - then it happens again (for me)
Keep up the good work and I hope you get soem of those path finding bugs sqashed - they can be annoying mid to late game.
For expansion packs - perhaps a good approach is to make the modular and you can pick and choose what "rules" you play by in the game. This has the best way of keeping everyone happy.
I'll confirm this bug as well - my post is similar if not the same bug as this poster.
I'm not sure if this is already posted - for the record I have a powerful machine - 8800 gtx with latest drivers, quad core, 2 gig ram- vista ultimate the bug I'm having occurs consitantly mid to late game when playing with several plyers (cpu). I can't confirm if the number of cpu players has anything to do with it - but it does happen consitantly mid to late game. The version of TA I'm using is .93b- 002 The bug continues to happen even if I reload. The trigger s
Yep I sure do. Doesn't play well with XP though. Was hoping Conquest 2 woud be out now but I think there is a funding issue. I was one of the beta testers for conquest - and COnquest is one of my favorite space rts games around. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Cool
I"d like ot say my 2 cents - Half life was a great game - but I like you, don't beleive it was all "that". One major beef of mine was the steam registration system - not that you have to register - but that its damm complicated to play a game offline - ouch!
I love the idea - even if it is only automatic - its exciting!
you need to upgrade. It's the same reason they don't make the game for windows 95.
SE V does make some great headway into the space. BRad - I salute you in showing respect to a good game. I think it is good to have friendly competition on Computer gaming.
This is all AIR, and I may just be completely lost in space. Guess that's why you are te Star pilot
They could have a "matrix" like relationship with the organic life forms. They use them as fuel - but in a re-usable way - which is effcient - rather then "burn" through them like fuel.
Thanks for the update Brad. We appreciate the good effort to communicate
But does it scale as you go up the tech tree Carielf?
Frogboy - You might want to move or hide the crash reports from appearing in the Recent posts (which is visible to all)- If I was a web visitor - and did not know anything about this game - seeing posts like - Game crashes on save and Ship design bug, etc. One might thinkn GalCIv 2 is a very buggy game and should be avoided. I think keeping the beta feedback only to the beta testers would help prevent new visitors form getting the wrong idea about GC2.

A good example of a weapon used to defend a planet is a system defense gun. Strong enough to blow away transports and fighters, but crusier and larger craft could destroy it.
