Yes you can. It's an option as a check-box under the video settings. (I believe it's called Fullscreen, unchecking it will set the game to windowed mode at whatever resolution you specify)

Something I've noticed about the AI. Regardless of how the map is laid out with opponents, every AI devotes 90% of their arsenal to hitting N. America. I played as Europe and was able to wipe out an undefended Russia and finish the game relatively unharmed because Russia ignored me and just went for the US.
Nakor, and then Frogboy himself have addressed the original poster's issue completely now. So the issue is more or less done. However, I just wanted to respond to this line from the post directly above mine here, since it also goes back to some comments in the chatroom and often comes up whenever a post critical of Stardock pops up here: Stardock is incr
Like I said, SotS and GC2 aren't really competing products. They compete in so much as any game competes with any other game released in a certain period of time of each other. Technically, WoW competes against every game released in the past two years, and that will be released in the next few years. Writing anything for WoW doesn't preclude you from being involved in the rest of the games industry for fear of a conflict of interest. GC2 and SotS compete when a game
If you read more on the whole ordeal, you'll find the following items: Tom Chick was paid a one-time flat fee for the manual for GC2 Tom Chick excused himself from reviewing GC2 and in fact tries to avoid reviewing any Stardock products He didn't like Sword of the Stars and his review reflected that. A lot of people, completely unconnected to GC2 disliked the game, as is their right. If they liked GC2, that likely did not impact their opinion of
Expect details to come up in the next few days/weeks. I'm sure everyone here will be pretty pleased
This is also the off-topic discussion area, where the rules are a little less strict, and the behavior a little more free. Cari removed the post with the out-right offensive language, but said the joke was OK and would be left to stand. That's about as official a pronouncement on the joke as you can possibly get.
This weekend, September 1-4, GalCiv 2 Lead Developer, Cari Begle (CariElf) and UI Designer/Stardock Art Director Paul Boyer (Mormegil) will be at DragonCon in Atlanta, Georgia. They will each be participating in a number of panel discussions over the course of the weekend and will field questions from both fans and aspiring game developers and artists. If you're going to be in the Atlanta area this holiday weekend, this is your chance to meet two of the people who made your favori
The activation in question is required if you want to patch your game up to 1.2 or beyond (1.3 being in the works right now). All it is doing is asking for your CD key (which most games do anyway) as a method to verify that you have a valid copy. Failing to verify will ONLY prevent you from receiving further patches, it will not prevent you from playing. I'm sorry that you consider inputting the CD key provided in the box (a common requirement on most games to even install) so
I know I'd love to read game examples/after action reports written by the community! That was probably one of the best parts of the days leading up to Master of Orion 3, all the beta testers posting their AARs and stories about their games.
Locking this thread. If you want to restart the "Hang out" discussion, create a new post. Keep the new one clean/free of fighting.
I'm glad you decided to go out and pick up a retail copy of the game. Not only is it copy-rpotection free, you're also gonna get a lot of good patches and support for "free" The 1.2 patch added a lot of goodies, and 1.3 should have some significant AI improvements and bug fixes. Brad's been pretty vocal on how he views CP, or the lack of it, impacts sales and that GC2 seems to be selling great despite being wide open, which goes completely against the arguments made by
Love the new site, it's so much easier to navigate now. Though we may want to adjust the stardock employee icon so it doesn't get that white jaggy edge thing
What resolution and color depth were you running at where it didn't work? What video card do you have? What OS? Some additional details on this one would be very helpful.
I was testing the new forum software on stardock.com. There are some issues with responding with FireFox. Advanced mode works, normal mode reads any submitted message as having no text and bouncing an error. Expect to see a new title on my name in a week or two
The auto-generated AARs and asteroids making the galactic map a bit more strategic are probably my favorite new features in the expansion. Definitely looking forward to those first beta builds!
MEATLOAF! Love the bit with Alex
Wrong thread....
I think this is tied to the swarm of colony ships bug. The AI *loves* colony ships and makes them like crazy. I think (but I'll have to load a new game to test later) the bug may be that it doesn't show in the shipyard queue on a planet that surrenders to you. To be clearer: If a planet has a ship being built, and that planet is turned over to you through a surrender before the ship is complete, it continues to build, but the shipyard queue appears emp
If you're not looking to go the Build It Yourself route, I highly recommend Link . They're very cost effective and you can get sweet as hell rig from them. Three of my friends have systems from them, and they absolutely love them.
Alas, I'm at work all day then have plans already for the evening. Hope someone posts a good chatlog
Boogie... care to toss us a teaser screenshot? Something to whet our appetites?
Maybe someone could do a video capture of a battle in testing currently? It would certainly make for a great teaser bit
Oh great... now we'll see someone with a Girls Gone Wild backdrop
