Today we have two new previews of Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar to point you to. With the release of the expansion drawing ever closer, the press is really ramping up and sharing their first thoughts on how the game is shaping up. IGN's Steve Butts takes a look at a recent build of Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar and posts his impressions of the upcoming expansion to one of the top strategy games of 2006. The preview takes a look at features such as the new races in the expansion (Korath Clan and Krynn Consulate), the new espionage system, and the new additions to the star map. If you aren't in the beta, of particular interest is how with Dark Avatar you can not only create your o
2006 was a great year for us, starting out with the release of Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords. The game received a great deal of critical praise with multiple editors choice awards, and we ended out the year with a good number of Game of the Year nominations and awards. We were nominated for: 1Up.com - Reader's Choice Strategy Game & Game of the Year <A href="http://www.gamespot.com/special_fea
As posted on the front page, we've extended the preorder beta access to orders placed through 4:30pm ET today. If you preordered before then you will get in. This should take care of everyone that ordered in that gap.
We're sorry about the lack of notice. There was a miscommunication internally on when the beta would close. Unfortunately the sales system has been updated at this point to not grant beta access to further orders. If at this point you want to cancel your preorder, please email [email protected]. Again, I'm very sorry about this. -Z
Last week, we let everyone know that GameSpy was doing their Readers Choice voting for various Game of the Year categories. The votes cast there were not for the main GameSpy Game of the Year events, just Readers Choice. Well, today GameSpy fired off the editors picks for best PC games of 2006. We placed #6 on the overall list , but took the gold

One of the most touted features of Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords was the artificial intelligence, which can give even the best players a run for their money. The AI was written by Brad Wardell, who took some time recently to write up some of his thoughts on the AI in the upcoming expansion, Dark Avatar, for an IGN Developer Diary . <br /

The holiday award season marches on! This time it's our friends at 1Up.com that are asking for the votes of you, the gamer, to determine their top ranked games of 2006. Again, Galactic Civilizations II is in the running for : Best Strategy Game Game of the Year! The difference between 1Up and GameSpy is that the 1Up awards aren't broken down by platform, so when you're voting in the Best Strategy Game category, you're picking from the best strategy gam
With GalCiv in particular, part of the series that makes it different from MoO, or Imperium Galactica, or any other major sci-fi game franchise is that it takes a break at times and just tries to have fun. This is a strategy game about fictional beings, fictional technology where distance and size is merely used as an abstraction to represent what is happening. GalCiv isn't a simulation, it's a strategic abstraction of galactic empire management and warfare. It is no mo
A note on voting: You must have a GameSpy account and be logged in for your vote to count. This is to discourage ballot stuffing by individual users.
As 2006 winds down, the gaming press begins to look back on the year that was, and tries to determine which games stood out as the best of their class. GameSpy is one of the first of the major media sites to put up their annual Gamers' Choice polls, where any gamer can go and vote for their favorite games of the year across 16 categories (7 of which are reserved for PC Genres). Our game, Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords has been nominate
I emailed all of the contest winners last month (Oct) to gather details. Thus far I've only received a few responses. Prizes are delayed because one of the items was a signed copy of Dark Avatar, which at the time of the contest was still supposed to be released in November 2006 (now pushed back to 2007). Once we have boxed copies of the game, we will be doing the prize packs (game, shirt, ship) all at the same time.
Stardock is based on Plymouth, MI in the US. We are GMT -5 for time, and we release based on our local time. It's 21:25 for you, but it's only 15:25 for us here.
The problem is these three topics have been hashed out over and over and over again. Tactical Combat: Not happening Carriers: Not happening Multiplayer: Might be happening in a later expansion. Also, firing off the well-worded gay gamers/mothers basement line has brought Bart very close to the land of the booted.
Here's a quick warning... this thread has popped up on my radar now. We haven't decided to lock it or anything yet, but it's already come very close to turning into one big flame-fest. If you can not discuss topics of religion, politics or other issues of personal opinion, in a civil and mature manner, the thread will be locked, and we will look more harshly upon similar threads in the future. Personal attacks are not OK, calling someone a moron for believing differently from
n00bonian, what address did you send the support request from? It will help us sort through the support box in looking for your ticket.
As a general note, [email protected] is always the best email address to send messages about billing issues to. It goes right to the people handling order processing and who have the access/ability to make order corrections and fix billing errors.
[Engaging personal-opinion mode] Personally, I prefer the tokens system to a flat-sub rate. Sure, with a sub system you get whatever gets released as part of your subscription, but that doesn't necessarily mean a good deal. What usually happens with something like that is you may get one or two months where a bunch of cool stuff gets released, and then you'll have a long drought with nothing interesting. So it seems like you're getting
That is in fact a valid email. We're partnering with RedPaw on this and helping them out by sending the notice to our members who have indicated they'd like to receive emails from us. Your address was not given to RedPaw, or any other company, we did the mailer internally. Hope this clears up any confusion on the matter.
