Dark Avatar beta closed...thanks for telling me!

I just got an email from stardock telling me the beta is closed. Why wasn't this info posted either clearly in the forums, or bettery yet, in the order form, just before I paid for it? Ex:

"Before you purchase the expansion, please note that the beta has been closed and you will not receive a download link for the expansion. You will have to wait until official release."

I really wanted to play the game last night, especially after reading the thousand posts in the forums concerning gameplay, and 'everyone already playing it.' I would not have purchased it if I knew I would have had to wait another six weeks.

This should have been clearly spelled out in the order form. Even when I posted a question last night, I was shuttled around to the 'serial recovery' program or led to believe there was a problem with my order.

We're sorry about the lack of notice.  There was a miscommunication internally on when the beta would close.  Unfortunately the sales system has been updated at this point to not grant beta access to further orders.

If at this point you want to cancel your preorder, please email [email protected].

Again, I'm very sorry about this.

As posted on the front page, we've extended the preorder beta access to orders placed through 4:30pm ET today.  If you preordered before then you will get in.  This should take care of everyone that ordered in that gap.

When a company makes a mistake:

Option #1: Ignore the customer until he's truly incensed, then deny there's a problem, then admit there's a problem but say that it's the customer's fault, then ban him from the message boards, then, finally, issue a weasel-worded letter still not admitting anything, with a subtly-worded legal threat if the matter is not dropped, but including a $10 voucher for something the customer doesn't want as "full and final settlement".

Option #2: Say sorry, fix the problem and let people know that the issue is sorted.

So if we pre-ordered ahwile ago, we can't test beta anymore after today?

No, this just means that people who preordered yesterday afternoon and later will not get DA beta keys. If you preordered before then or have already been playing the DA beta, you can continue to do so up to release.
