Yes. You should be able to use DesktopX to mod the UI. The minimap is a specific case where we would need code to make it work both as a square and as a diamond. It wouldn't be a high priority, but it may well be worth doing.

We use C/C++ and DirectX. GalCiv1/AP used DirectDraw7 and GC2 is using DirectX 9.0c.

Kyro, we don't have a good/evil/neutral scheme right now for the interface. We may, however, change portions of the interface to reflect which race you're playing as.
