To answer a few.... I like to start the game with military production in the 45-50% range. That way I can get a lot of colony ships without having to pay extra for rushing them. In the early part of the game, I usually have planets send around 35% of their population (up to 350 million) on colony ships. 300 million gives a planet a decent start in my humbe opinion. I usually don't change the spending %'s until I've produced a few constructors to get the resources ne

Good work on the Governor, although there is still one little problem with him. :) Whenever I click on an item to remove it from the list, the item above my item is removed. You might want to look into it! Also, this may have been said before, but the scrollbar in the Load/Save games is always on top of the list, so that I can't read the info on the saved games (name, time & etc). One more bug, at one time I couldn't move my ships, only assign them a destination, but that wa

I don't think it is in M002 or at least I haven't seen it and I've played M002 for a LONG time now. I think the cost of mothballing and "taking out of storage" would have to be very high for this to work, otherwise I could just stockpile a huge fleet and then overwhelm a much larger enemy when I decide to attack. Maybe it should work as a "last defense" tactic. Bring the old ships (with reduced firepower or hitpoints) out of storage as a defense against the Drengin onslaught.

Good to know! :) I've been thinking about upgrading my system (P3 733Mhz, 768MB RAM), but I think I'll wait until the 3Ghz systems are less expensive. Btw... Is the Metaverse not updated anymore?

hehe, i just fixed it! The "businessmen bahaving badly" window was still in the background so i just had to find out where the checkbox was and then where the "Done" button was and then everything was ok. I guess it's not ok to have an event and the council at the same turn. :(

In the game I'm currently playing, the "businessmen bahaving badly" event just happened and as soon as i clicked my response to the event, the council was convened to vote on who should host the "Galactic Games". I won the vote :d , but when the window closed my galactic view was messed up. The window to the right (mini-view, charts and news) was still showing the picture from "businessmen behaving badly". I can scroll around the galaxy with the mouse, but I can't click anything. W

I just loaded an old save of the above game. The moral of my systems was pretty low because I ran out of money without noticing it (it would be good to get a warning). Anyway, about 50% of my systems revolted and became the "terran XXXXXX". I decided to talk to them and demand all my systems back and they gave them all back saying "we didnt' want them anyway". So much for the great rebellion. Maybe they should have kept some of my ships?

I found 3 problems! :d 1. A race I thought was inferior tried to blackmail me and then declared war on me. I was very much surprised to see that they had 10 techs I didn't have (including turbolasers : ( ). I immediately checked the other races and they were all ahead of me by the same number of techs, even though I was the top universe in the charts. I traded my "diplomacy translators" and got all the techs and then destroyed the race that attacked me. The next turns I build up

If you get an increase in your bonus to Hitpoints as a result of Tri-Strontium-Steel or your lates anomaly findings, the maximum hitpoints of all your ships and starbases will change accordingly. Until your your ships and starbases have "repaired" to the maximum amount of hitpoints, they will appear to be damaged. Also, if your political party is the "WarParty" you receive a +100% bonus to your starting hitpoints. If however your party (the WarParty) loses control of the senete, your

I think that other empires should think less of me when one of their systems decides to join me. As mentioned above they should (depending on their current mood) either declare war, stop trading or send me a warning message. Also, as mentioned above, I should be able to say "No" to the systems that want to join my empire and thereby escape their wrath. I've so far played about 15 games and most with medium or large galaxies. So far all my games are effectively over (won or lost) befo

I'm playing a Medium size galaxy and I have 3 planets (the AI's have 2-3 planets each). My planets are ok, 17,19 and 20 in quality. I've got every planet making constructor's and my first will be finished in 32 turns. Most of the AI's already have starbases with 5 improvements. Any thoughts?

I also had a problem with spending. No matter how I changed my spending %, the $ amount was the same. I restored the game and then it was alright.

Come to think of it, I don't think my ships have ever been attacked by anyone when they've been in "space". I don't think the AI CAN attack my ships when they're not at my systems. If this is true, then my strategy wil be as follows: "I just build a few offensive ships, at least 1 for each system. Those ships will then hover around my systems and kill of any transports that try to invade my systems. Then I just build 2 BattleCruisers and a Transport whenever I want to invade

There is also the stacking bug. The AI's tend to stack their ships on the same tile. One tile can have, for example, 30 ships from 4 different races + a space shark. This is all fine, except I think they should all be attacking each other, not having a tea-party! The other problem with this, is that I can't attack any of the ships in the stack. As long as 2 races or more have ships in a tile, I can't attack ANY ships in the tile. I know this can also work to my advantage (hiding

Same happened to me! :( The Tiny maps are unplayable with smart AI's. It would be great if we could have these settings: 1. "Races can surrender? Yes/No" 2. "Planets can defect due to influence? Yes/No!" It would give players the option of going for a 100% military festival! :CONGRAT:

I had a SurveyShip disappear on me when it went into a wormhole (maybe it was a black-hole LOL ). It still showed as a blue dot on the galaxy-view, but it was gone from the normal view. Then when I selected it in the ship-list, the view centered on nothing, but I could move the nothing into the next tile and then it would appear again!

I just had the same thing happen to me! I wanted to try this out and played a "tiny" game with smart AI's. I selected war-party and built the Tri-Strontium Steel wonder and I was having a good time with my all-powerful BattleCruisers when I ran into an AI with BattleShips. It was not a pretty sight! LOL

Battleships have 50 hitpoints to begin with. If you select War Party as you political party you get a 100% bonus to your ship's hitpoints. That gives your Battleship 100 hitpoints. Then you can get all kinds of hitpoint bonuses in the game. The "Tri-Strontium Steel" wonder f.x. gives you another 50% bonus to hitpoints. Your Survey ship can also "find" bonuses in space (debris and anomalies). If the AI's battleships had 122 HP, their total bonus must have been 144%

Thanks for the advice! :) I just played a game right now. I used 6 out of 10 ability bonuses and I set all the AI's to "smart". I then selected a medium galaxy and set the habitable planets to "rare". The game started out ok.. I explored the galaxy and colonized 1 solar system with 2 planets (total of 3 planets). There was one sector that had 2 Torian systems, 2 Yor Collective systems and 1 minor race systems. I thought wow.. a sector with 5 habitable systems, how
