Your population will keep on increasing until it reaches the maximum for that planet (usually appears right beside the current population). The more people on a planet the less happy they'll get. Duh, who wants to live with other people on the same planet? You can build buildings that have an approval bonus (yellow smiling face). But it won't help if there are way too many people on the planet (like 20b).

Maybe it's an uninhabitable planet? What's it's planet quality? (some number on the planet, like earth has 13 or something and mars has 4). If it's zero then that planet can't be colonized.

So a fleet of mine that has 200 defenses vs beam weapons and 38 missile attack is fighting an enemy fleet with 194 defenses vs beam weapons and 48 beam attack. I would have thought that my fleet would be invulnerable to their attacks and that their fleet would just take the damage from my weapons since they had no defense against them. The exact opposite happened. They wiped me out while only suffering very little damage. What's going on?

Thanks to all who replied. So there is no way to upgrade a ship without paying right? Only new ships can be built? And about the levels, what's the effect of having a higher level? I didn't see any difference between my 13th level ship and my 1st level one.

I have a ship with levels, what does that mean? Also, how do I upgrade a ship? Do I have to buy the upgrade or is there some way to take it to a planet and do the upgrading like you build a ship? Thanks
