Hello. I have a retail copy version of GC2: Ultimate Edition I bought years ago. I wanted to install it on my new computer, but can't get the updated patches. Apparently Impulse is gone? I guess? This really is not convenient. Never was. Anyone know official sources where I can download patches? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Nah. I got the cinematic and everything, and yet just one ship, which made me thoroughly disappointed. My current game has been full of bugs, so I just passed it off as just another.
The game I'm currently playing would be my largest empire. Planets: 102 Total Ships: 495 (this includes numerous construction ships, so thus number varies) Attack Ships: 267 Transports: 107 (I like to be prepared) Starbases: 51 This Sandbox game has been rather boring aside from the numerous wars the other races get into. The Jagged Knife haven't struck yet, neither have the Peacekeepers or Dreadlords, and the Pirate Invasion spawned only ONE sh
I'm not sure if it's a bug or a trick. hehe Yes, I have had the same thing happen to me.
When I first started playing, I would rename all habital planets after women. [e digicons][/e] It was just easier to think of numerous names that way, and fit rather well. It also had the added bonus of adding incentive to protecting the planet and keeping the population happy. Don't want "Melissa" mad at me.
Applause to everyone for keeping this thread alive and sharing your awesome designs! I made a ship last year and liked it so much I put it in the 2009 Ship Design thread. This year I made a modification I liked so decided to throw it in here too. I altered my old design to carry Black Hole Guns rather than Nightmare Torpedoes. I call it the Gatling-class because the center circle of guns sp

Maybe you should save more often?
I Quick Save every turn, and a Full save every few turns. I also mentioned that my Auto-Save is supposed to enable every 10 turns, but that has screwed up too.
Set auto-save frequency to "1" (then it saves at the end of every turn) . The bug I get most is: the game crashing back to the desktop when the mouse is moved quickly to near the edge of the map.
Want to hear something funny? As I read that, I thought "Where is my Autosave?" So I went back and looked. Apparently I have it set that Autosave enables every 10 turns. So I load my Autosave
I love this game, but there is one thing that is starting to annoy me. It seems that the more I play this game, the more bugs show up and occur with much more frequency. In my current game, at least twice I've had to reload previous saves to correct bugs. And I may have to do it a third time. Just recently I discovered the game bugged and dropped the Krynn's productivity to zero. Ships take hundreds of weeks to build and planetary improvements are simpl
DamienShade - now that's weird. What did they look like? What techs did they have? I've heard of instances where players could contact the Dread Lords by clicking on GNN messages of the DLs making peace with a race, but at least they have a planet.
Their racial portrait was the same one the Scottlingas use. As for techs, they had the whole Influence tree, high Beam and Mass Driver tech (but not the top tier stuff), the entire S
This reminds me of the Peacekeeper bug I encountered. They did not attack me or the Torians, but more than that, they would contact me "begging for help" (even though they destroyed every ship in the galaxy, several civs were large and strong in economy, influence, etc). So even though they didn't have a planet so I could contact them, I was able to perform trades when they contacted me. The Torians also traded with the Peacekeepers, I assume the same way by the Peac
At first I thought this was a minor bug, but it turns out to be a constant thing. Basically, the Iconians and Torians only build improvements on roughly half their planets. A large number of worlds just sit barren, except for the initial colony. They will upgrade tiles once things like Soil Enhancement or Terraforming is researched, but they won't build any structures. It appears to be ONLY the Iconians or Torians that do this. Every other race builds improve
Hmmm...unless something has changed, those online sources are wrong. Battle Station ranks only increase offensive firepower, not defense.
I'm glad this happened to someone else. Same thing happened to me. 1 Ranger, 1 Battleship, 1 Frigate, 1 Fighter. Best bug ever. Don't know how. I was looking around, noticed some new ship icons in my territory. Zoomed in and there they were.

Assuming they are allied ONLY with the Korath, this will drag the Korath and only the Korath into the war - their other allies won't support them if they are the ones declaring war on you, even if they are doing so to support an ally. If you are allied with anyone, don't try this, it will eventually dr
Yeah, that certainly would be faster and cheaper. The Korath do have a higher military score than I do. Thanks, Iztok.
Hmm...worth a shot. Thanks! [e digicons][/e]
Hello all. This has probably been asked before, but a search didn't turn up anything. I'm wondering what are some tricks in order to get one specific race mad enough at you so that they declare war? I'm in a situation where I want to fight the Korath, but they are inexplicably allied with the Terrans and the Thalans (also the Yor and the Drengin, but I couldn't care about them). I'd rather not have to fight the Terrans and Thalans also, so I figure the best thing t
I agree with Noctilucus. Sometimes the AI will intentionally not construct buildings on a planet, most likely due to financial constraints such as production and/or maintenance costs.
This is a good idea, but even 20 years into a game they still don't do anything. And, at least in my case, it's always the Torians. No other race has this problem.
1. The Demo is actually pretty buggy. Are the expansions mostly bug fixes designed in a way that I need to pay for them? How do they compare with the original game, bug wise? 2. Do the expansions have new campaigns, and new races? 3. Do the expansions alter the single player game by changing the tech tree, and changing the way the economy works? If so, is it changing in the way of "Fine tuning", or is more o
Yeah, I've never seen more ships spawn. You are on an immense map, and when that happened to me (also an immense map) there were a lot of them. Two ships against hundreds of Pirate ships in dozens of fleets would probably take a while.

This kind of thing is starting to piss me off. We're no longer buying and owning games, we're buying access to games. I don't like spending money on something I won't be able to play whenever I want no matter what the circumstances. I can play GalCiv 2 whenever I want, not just when I have internet access. I hope to hell that SC2 doesn't pull this s**t.
