No I dont want to know what's coming out next week. I want to know what sorts of updates/patches etc you miss out on if you dont enter a valid serial number. Is there a patch-notes page somewhere that shows me what bugs have been fixed etc since the release of GalCiv2 Ultimate ed? Thanks,

Sorry - I have Ultimate Edition so I guess I'm up to ToA. I was curious more in updates - patches - etc moreso than expansions. But I do appreciate the detail in your answer!

In my games, it seems like the Iconians always do very well. And I hate them, they declare war on the weakest civilizations and call themselves good? Bah! The Korath are cute, but they ALWAYS lose. Terran and Altarian have been doing well in my games lately... cause nobody attacks them guys! In my last game Thala was the only Thalan planet and when I took their Hyperion Matrix, I was happy. :P

I think the answer has been given already. There's a maximum amount of debt, based on difficulty, that has nothing to do with the -500bc. That number on his difficulty is -2000 BC. In other words, if you spend 75000BC upgrading a fleet of large ships, and click TURN, on that difficulty level, your debt will be reduced to -2000 automatically, whether or not your empire is turning a weekly profit or defecit. Okey dokey.

I'm one of those evil people who got this game from BT. Now - I'm seriously considering shelling out for a serial number for a few reasons. 1) I like how Stardock is a small company with a great game, and its obvious that this game was created by passionate people in a non-corporate, money-grabbing kind of company 2) I think I want the updates, patches etc and I'm okay paying for this game Now - I'm curious if somebody could tell me where I should buy a serial number f

He wasn't talking about upon starting a new game - he was talking about loading a game. ie You quit GalCiv2 to check your email and grab a sandwich, come back in, and now you have your HW screen up, and your tech screen up, and every ship on auto-anything reports in... It isn't worth the effort to 'fix' this issue, and I do occasionally catch a lazy planet or ship so that's handy I suppose. But I do understand the OP's point - why does this happen, anyway? Somebody did have to

There's also that whole issue about unhappiness as population rises... why would more taxpayers make people unhappy (presumably due to overcrowding)... seems to me I'd be happier if my neighbour's were paying tax too!

Hehe I created the Shadows and the Vorlon as two seperate races, and I find you can do a pretty good job of Vorlon and Shadow-ish ships using the Yor Collective ship designs. Funnily enough, I'm currently playing a game as the Shadows and on the other side of my galaxy, the Vorlon have been very busy becoming the absolutely dominant race in the galaxy and I'm now squaring off with them one on one, using all the smaller races remaining as pawns in our chess match. Almost like i

[quote who="space599" reply="12" id="2024123"]Kool. Reminds me of background story from a different game, Star Control 2. In that game, a race called the Shofixti used some sort of device to trigger a nova on their homestar that destroyed a signifaicant portion of the enemy fleet, as well as the Shofixti homeworld. I guess you could replicate that in GalCiv 2 by blowing up your homestar when there is no way out and you are surrounded by enemy ships. Talk about go
