Heft, I bought that UFO Alien Invasion when it first released. I was expecting a clone to Xcom, and was disappointed when it turned out to be 'just' the tactical combat. Then was even more disappointed when the tactical combat turned out to be weak as water. I played maybe 10 hours before I tossed it. Has it improved greatly since release?
I still play X-Com:UFODefense and even in a DosBox mode within Vista on a DualCore CPU and that title is from the mid 90's!
Wow, I just downloaded x-com again, but couldn't get a grip on dosbox. Try Jagged Alliance 2 if you haven't.
I haven't had much experiance at all with steam or impulse, but I'm certain that the basic tenants of capitalism work in the gaming industry. In the last 15 or so years, the volume of companies producing and publishing games has dropped like a rock. It's pretty obvious I think that the overall value for a gaming dollar has dropped just as fast and just as far. Games now are about twice as expensive as they used to be, and they bring half (or less) real meat to th
^.^ population has an affect on morale?
Wow, great to know. I've been trying to figure out a decent way to transfer pop. I just played again from a quicksave of the same game (this is the first game I've used troop modules). I custom built a large size ship with 4 troop modules, 3 warp engines, and as much weaponry/defense as I could fit. When I launched it, it carried 1500 troops with the slider all the way to the right. I launched a medium vanilla transport with 2 warp engines and one module and it also carried 1500
Thanks for the quick reply :) So I guess it WOULD pay to send multiple colonly ships to a new colony to overcome the initial slow growth. As a follow up, how exactly do troop modules work? I put multiple modules on the same ship, but got the same number of troops as a ship with a single module. Does the ship base size affect the amount of troops as well? Thanks again.
Hello all, thanks for taking the time for some newb questions: 1) Can you decomission a colony ship in the orbit of a planet to get the population from the colony ship added to the planet? I keep meaning to check to see if it happens and keep forgetting. 2)Do the movement modifiers from the various military starbase modules stack if the ship is in range (I assume it's the blue circle) of more than 1 starbase with the same modules? 2a) When does the above movement modif
I just finished the 2cnd dread lord campaign scenario. I think there were about 8 mining resources and 3 planets available to colonize. The AI didn't make the first starbase until I had all but 3 of them mined, with the starbases themselves upgraded with 9 or so modules. The AI didn't colonize a single world, and only launched 2 heavy fighters from his home planet the entire game. The game difficulty was set to challenging. By the time I felt like finishing the scenario, I had
That would have been a timely response last Saturday :p
Thank you very much. [e digicons]5*[/e] I would have never found that on my own.
Thanks, I did re-download/install/archive after uninstalling the demo. I'm still looking for info on how to use the archives to reinstall. I've got everything up and running fine now, but I'm sure I'll need to reinstall it sometime.
"NOTE: If you currently have the trial version of this product installed, you MUST uninstall and reboot before installing the full version from the link below." I stand corrected. I do feel much better about the purchase knowing it was my mistake that caused the problem. Thanks for the reply. I did actually archive th
This is soooo kludge. I spent 40$ and 3 hours downloading what looks to be a great game last night. This morning I play for a while, then do some maintenance. Part of the maintenance is removing demos I've DL'd lately and no longer want. Uninstalling the demo requires a redownload and reinstall of the full game. Hi, I've just downloaded the demo for Galactic Civ II, and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm absolutely going to purchase, but I'm confused as to what to purchase. 1)Is dread lords an expansion, or is it the core game? 2)It seems from the purchase page that the expansion bundle is 10$ more than the ultimate bundle pack, and requires purchase of dread lords as well, but includes the same expansions. If I wanted the complete release history, which would I purchase? USA pu
