BTW, where the hell is Recruiting Center in DA v 1.82? Are the tech trees all the same in this version?
there is none, it's TOTA only, sometimes it can get confusing with 3 different versions, esp, as I'm currently playing/investigating mostly DL. BTW the latest DA version is 2.04
I came green again the turn after the frowny face showed up. Is the morale effe

500 Military (Might?) Rating isn't a big deal, although if the AIs don't have much own MMR you may be able to swindle them. Also, I don't think that the NB strat is actually helpful IF you intent to come out of debt at some time. Because, the production from focus will still costs you money, thus delaying the time until you come positive again. Although, if your planets do have some reasonable levels of population, it might actually be helpful if you focus on socia
Are you thinking that they would kill each other off?
if you wanna conquering suicidal in a conventional warfighting game, it's a valid tactic to send the AI into warfare with each other... it's keeping their military down... you see, on suicidal all AI will speed ahead of you technologically & militarily, so basically the only way to compensate that is to socialize up & develop planets to optimal standars

ok, but how then exactly were you're finally able to get his planet clear? because, AFAIK, he'll let his starting colony ship sit into orbit for dozens of turns, and then finally decommision it.
What good does that do? The ships in orbit still block my spore ship. I went back and tried to buy his Colony ship which was in orbit because he couldn't find a planet to colonize. He won't sell it for love nor money.
Well I was under the false presumption you weren't able to declare war & simply kill his Colony Ship with your Sporeship. I just fired TotA up and I saw that you could als

hmmm, well I tried to re-create things from Reply#1709, but got a complete different experience. Relationship is stored in prefs.ini, and actually applies to the slot. Now if you manually de-select any enemy, it goes back into the pool to the right which will also set its relation to "unknown". Thus, any new enemy will also have his relation set to default "unknown". Randomizing opponents seems to screw that. The game will randomly pick any enemy but the relation will stay as

The only random options in the last screens are "number of opponents" "intelligence" both have 0 to do with "relations" If you manually set relations to "unknown" you won't see that AI in the diplomacy screen and on first encounter, it'll default to "neutral". However, because you set "number of opponents" to random, you actually have no control if these AIs are even present in your game.

ARC means you'll be tinkering with personalized files to change your/your enemies Super-Ability (SA), homesystems, personalities, ethical alignments & some other stuff. Most likely you'll need it for Stock Races. Custom Races can easily be changed using the " Create New Opponent "- or " Edit "-buttons which you'll see in the Enemy Selection -screen during a game's setup.</

In a Spore-ZYW game the player defeats a single (or 2) AIs by turning their own SpaceMiner into a SporeShip, and uses it to invade their homeworld on April 8th in the first year/ after 14 turns. It nets about 100k-110k score (in Dark Avatar) and can be played in a matter of minutes (once you're used to it) although, if you're looking for a 2 PreCursorLibs starting syst

Simply search for it in your 2.20 installation & overwrite it with the old one (which you take from the 2.04 version) As for 2 separate personal folder - I think you'll have to do work with 2 separate backup-folders - which you copy into the used one, and

The 'Negative Balance' -strategy is the most efficient way to create an early high military score and/or an uberhigh lategame military score. It is published here for the first time, after being part of a collection of private strategies in the, now defunct, KzintiEmpire forums. It can serve as a basic militaryshipbuilder/ planetaryoutbuilder in Giga-All-Abundant-Millionpointer games (where it has FAR less rampup-time than any other comparative

Well, in the old versions of the game you could always put a spy on any moral-improvements prior invasion and therefore, also conquer a 8b planet successfully with its own population. But I agree, if you do this on already-bad-moraled planets it becomes so effective that you'll end with more soldiers AFTER the invasion than what you had before (the only thing you sacrifice is one troopship - though that could be a tiny one....^^) The CU completely solved this by not allowing to pu

well, you could mod them, some great stuff is possible here (also graphically), for example in my personal one I made 4 homeplanets colonizeable in order to form a certain stronghold. some of the traditional homesystems seem rather weak when there are PQ36 planets which could be in a 5-habitable planet system... that way even when playing rare setup you basically get a more balanced start ... but ofc for MV it won't be accepted... no clue about the tournaments, that was a lo

It's possible to start out with 3 colonizeable planets at your homesystem (instead of the conventional 2) - even for MV games. For this, you'll have to specify the name of your starting homeworld as the name of a (usually) empty PQ0 world which is listed at your own system. This planet then gets an upgrade to be a PQ10 world. Here's a list containing all important taglines: [extracted from the responsible "CustomPlanets.xml"-files] &lt

yes maybe a full collection as a .pdf but only once I'm finished. otherwise I have to do all changes two-fold. and I'm still having a dozen different strategies at my files which I want to release, for example - Spore ZYW step by step - NB strat - MCC farming - more details on MV score (I'll break that section away from the SD-ZYW and enhance it) - prolonged SD-ZYWs into y1 which nets up to 300k per game - prolonged Spore ZYW against

I think the original implication is simply to get your Military Rating high. Let's say you are playing a pacifist race, trying to go for diplomatic victory, or cultural victory, thus you don't really need to have a military at all (it costs alot of maint anyway...) then the SCC gives you a single opportunity to put some strong ships under it which may prevent that the AIs bully you or dislike you. I don't think that the Devs intentionally designed the game so you could swi

The problem lies within Firefox - which seems to be unable to recognize/display .jpg that has been saved with "chroma subsampling YCbCr 4x4 2x2 2x2" (which I used to reduce filesize...) Yes, the scoreing formulae is the same, because it's active right in your installation. The MV simply checks (whenever you login) the correctness of your files. That's why you can't play a mod here... which, will obviously affect some of the increments to score and this may distort a proper comparison of MV score vs. sandbox score a bit (or a lot, depending onthe mod). Please note that the score shown ingame under "High Scores" does also show any MV games, although
I've been fooling around with permutations of this strategy in TotA, and as noted IT DOESN'T WORK for several reasons. First, no AI will make a treaty withing the first 2.2 years. Not necessarily a killer but it denies an important source of money. Second, the Save/Restart action will not reset the AI's refusal to talk after a deal. So you can bankrupt and declare war, but then you can&#39
