Now modding the XML FlavorText is a whole different story
Yes, it is an absurdly huge file. Fortunately, if you use the "find" feature on notepad, and put in a general keyword such as "first colony" for the first colony paragraphs, you should land on or near the section you want.
just give racial enemies an extra negative in diplomacy when dealing with one another.
They already have a -. It's called "lingering racial grudge". Incidentally, anybody know how to mod a race to have it? Like, say, I want the Luminoth to hate the Ing, what do I change?
I would like for the AI to boost its relations with you if you vote in it's interest. i.e. if you vote to put the Galactic Prison/Factory on Toria, the Torians wouuld like you more.
I liked the tech victory sequence from GC1 much better than 2. I agree that you should get bonuses from tech victory path techs, but instead of being glommed onto the "research" arm of the tree, they should be spread into different areas. i.e. Near Omniscience should be after the most costly techs in the Research area of the tree, Beyond Mortality should be after the most costly Biology techs, and Galactic Understanding after the most costly Diplomacy and Culture techs. In other wor
If you have TA, use the editor: In the improvement editor go to the "bonuses" tab and locate the box labeled "% bonus to civ". The scrolldown menu conains all the ability types. "Ability Amount" is the % by which the ability is actually raised. "Ability Factor" seems to be what the improvement window in the game says the improvement raises. For the planet it is built on, use the numerous "% bonuses to planet" boxes on the right. If you don't have TA, these imps will become available
9) [e digicons]:maybe:[/e] 8) I like that idea, but not having much experience in modeling, I don't know if it's even possible.. 6) Judging by my experiments, there is nothing about the "category" classifications that scales the hull. It seems like the smaller hulls just have naturally smaller models, although since I just switched to a new compuiter & havent had time to download Blender yet, I could be wrong... In any event, KHSM lets you resize the hulls, so it sou
Update: I was able to coerce... uh... I mean CONVINCE my parents to get me a nice, fast new laptop for Christmas, and am now running TA perfectly.
I AM cursed... whenerver I post a bug report, the problem seems to magically go away without any human intervention... The button is working again, and I have yet another mystery glitch to puzzle over... [e digicons]:maybe:[/e]
I know that this is technically NOT a problem with the game, but when I click on the grey "My Posts" button on top of the homepage, it just reloads that page, and when I navigate waya after clicking, it logs me out. I have tried this on several different computers, soI know it is not unique to just me.
In what it probably my single most idiotic mistake ever, I got the name of what I was looking for completyely wrong. It is actually called "lingering racial grudge" not "historic animosity." [e digicons]:([/e]
Zyxpsylon: Although this information is useful, it is not exactly what I was originally looking for. What I am talking about is the relations penalty that appears on the foreign policy screen. As far as I know, it only exisis between Torians and Drengin, and the Iconians and Yor.
How do you mod a race to have the "historic animosity" thing (I think there's also one called "historic friendship, but I forget which race has it) with another race. I looked at the XMLs, but there seems to be no difference between the Torians and Drengin and, say, Humans and Drengin. Is it hardcoded or something?
What other bonuses would you need?
I've always wanted to create a set of economic bonus tiles, as well as 300% and 700% tiles for influence and morale. Maybe something for soldiering or logistics or whatnot... I don't really know beyond the first few, but I would definately want more to add some variety to the game.
Thanks for the assist. I'll hold off on buying new RAM for a while... I might be getting a new computer for Christmas anyway [e digicons][/e] .
AI Max CPU is OFF, Processor is 1.5 GHz 224 MB of RAM, Paging file initial size: 436MB Paging File Max: 772 MB Hard Drive Space: 9.93 GB of 37.26 GB
Is it possible to actually create new kinds of bonus tiles with hex edit (I don't think it would be, but I hope I'm wrong...)
using Blender & their DirectX plugins
I am searching unsucessfully for DirectX plugins for blender myself. If you could give me a link to the site where you downloaded your version, it would save me a lot of Googling...
ToTA? Hopefully in a few days...
Actually, it took me more than a month, but I finally got it. Unfortunately, my 2003 Toshiba laptop lacks sufficient processing power to play it without horrible lags, so I haven't really gotten a chance to see what it has to offer.
plus a couple of hundreds more along with some 'shareware offers' such as Blender).
I tried opening one of the UV map files with Blender, and they are NOT compatible.
I can't do anything about the search function, but I can tell you that those bonus tiles are IMPOSSIBLE to mod. I really wish they were, but no matter how much I complain the devs will not (maybe just cannot) make them moddable!
A way to avoid the "genocide run" problem would be to have the transports get destroyed if every soldier on them dies on the planet. But I agree with your (and your roommate's) point. If you conquor(sp?) a planet, your transport should be in orbit over that planet afterwards.
It is one way, albiet probably the main way, to add RePs to the base stock each player is assigned @ the start, along with improvements, maybe anomalies & resources, and techs.
And ethical choices. Let's not forget those.
With regards to the star-destruction thing: maybe have some stars be "Nova Risks" i.e. @ the end of their life-span or just naturally unstable. They would have an icon on them like you get on planets, as well as a "Our astronomers predict that this star is likely to explode" popup if you colonize one of the planets. You can colonize the planets around such a star, but you run the risk of it going nova and destroying all the planets and any ships that get too close.
What program did you use to create the race portraits, & where did you get it? I have attempted to create portraits before for other mods, & have gotten nowhere.
I am basically undecided with regards to liking/disliking the plot, but humans having stargate technology by 2025 seems a bit unrealistic to me. My advice: either set the dates ahead significantly (as in stargates by 2100 or so), or have the stargate device be alien technology that somehow found its way to Earth.
