Where can I find the most basic of instructions/tutorial on learning this game? I read the excerpt below in an FAQ on the GameFaqs site. I looked on my hard drive in the GalCiv 2 folder and am unable to find the guide they are referring to. "It is strongly recommended that you read the "Beginner's Strategy Guide" that can be found in the GalCivII directory on your hard-drive. This simple guide discusses much of the game interface that will be important t

I am a noob who is wondering about the game difficulties. I figured I would start at "beginner", but it looks like there are 3 levels below that? I also see "simple", "easy", and "cakewalk". I know it is a dumb question, but can I assume the difficulty from easiest to more difficult would be cakewalk - easy - simple - beginner? I need maximum easy! Thanks
Kryo, my friend - you are gold! Thanks!
I have Vista 64 and downloaded the game via Stardock. On starting a new game there are two issues. The Tutorials tab is greyed out. Also, I can get all the way through the part where you plan your game, but it crashes on the last screen before the new game starts up. Any help?
I am a 4X strategy complete noob. I am wondering if Gal Civ 2 Dread Lords or MOO2 is a better/easier game to learn the basics. As of right now, I have no clue whatsoever on how to play. Thanks.
I have a bunch of starting colony ships that have the 55 points alotted to build onto them for engines, etc. How do I increase that number for more colony modules and such?
I understand that shields equal ship production and hammers are for buildings. My question is this: What does the quantity mean? If I have more shields, does that mean I can build more ships or that I can build them faster?
I know there are a million ways to play this game, but I am looking for basic build strategies. I am a strategy noob and it seems I never know what to build where, or when for that matter. Any tips or links are appreciated.
nvm
Lets say my income is 120/week, my spending is also 120/week. Then it says my expenses are lets say 100/week. What does this mean? Does that put me in the red?
How do I know if the planet's population will provide a decent enough tax income to build? Also, how/where can I find how much a factory/building costs to build? Thanks for the help
I am a new player to strategy games. So far I just have been finding new planets and start building on them. Many are deficit spending. Is this a big deal? I really am kind of clueless as to general gameplay. Should I strive for no deficit planets at all? Also, when I send a colony ship to a new planet, what is a good number of people to send with it? I seem to not send enough, so I then send another colony ship to help increase the population. The population does increase, but the sh
What is the solution to increase Military spending on a given planet then?
If I set the sliders to 1/49/50, will my ship production be adequate at 1?
I see how it works now. sorry
Initially, Tutorials was also greyed out, but i found the fix for that by editing the registry. What has to happen to make "Continue Game" enable? Is that only available upon starting the campaign?
Thanks for the clarification
So "factories" include both military (ship) building as well as general structures (social)? You could say then factories =2/3 and research = 1/3. Correct? The statement "But there are two: labs and factories" is misleading in that it seems to bring in another entity like: 1) Military 2) Social a- Labs (building of) b- Factories (building of) 3) Research Sorry
So at an even 33% 33%-33% it means that Ship production 33% Factories - 17.5% Labs - 17.5% Research - 33% Is that correct?
So what is the solution?
The Sliders Problem The basic idea behind sliders is sound: the three sliders direct the credits of your empire's production to ships, buildings and research. It would work perfectly if there was only one type of the building. But there are two: labs and factories, and they produce only as much as you finance them. If you set sliders equally (33%/33%/33%), then factories (social and military) receive 66% of the funding and labs 33%.
Is the info in the manual relevant, or I read very out dated?
I have never played a 4X strategy game before. I have no idea what to do. Where is the best place to start for very simplified step by step instructions?
