Direct links to posts are (or should be) a completely separate function from last read post in thread. They were once, at least. You are correct that it's broken (again?)-though it appeared to be functional at the time of my above post; perhaps I didn't check thoroughly enough.

As this has been fixed, I just wanted to say thanks to the under-appreciated forum pigeons who work so hard.
Very cool, ID. I don't suppose there's anywhere one might pick up Diplomacy by itself, if one already has Sins and Entrenchment but no desire for "excess" games? I look every time I see a sale, but I've yet to find it listed anywhere. Also, I recognize Rebellion is the "latest and greatest", but I'm just interested in completing my trinity, as it were.
Direct links to posts (try anything in the ToE or Kzinti thread for example) simply take me to the last read post in thread (incidentally, last read post in thread function still works properly). This only seems to occur while logged in; if I log out, the link to post functions properly. Occurs in both Chrome and FF, latest versions. Feel free to move this if it belongs somewhere else-couldn't see where to report forum bugs from here.
Y'know, I still hope for a GCIII. I may end up being gray-haired with a walker by then, but even so. Just doing my roughly 6 month visit. -Silver-
It's here. It's good to see all of you again. In particular, it's wonderful to have you back, Maiden.
Yep, the Tyranny lives! The FAQs say it'll be some sort of asynchronous multiplayer so we can be on at different times. I'd think we could start off as a coop and go to adversarial later, if we want. I wonder if team play will be in there? A new Metaverse is mentioned that will allow the AI to learn from us mere mortals. That'll be real cool. As to Win8, I'm waiting to
Thank you for the reply. Is it worth it to dedicate the time and resources for the techs to build one in the scenarios/campaign? Are the anomalies that detrimental to winning a scenario? Or does it depend on the specific mission objective(s)? Thanks for any more info.
Scenarios, maybe. I think some of them may have anomalies disabled, actually, which would make them useless. Been a while since I look
Not in the campaigns, no. In fact, I'm fairly positive (although not entirely certain) that this is true for all campaign missions. In Sandbox, yes. In the various scenarios/custom maps available, it varies.
No offense, but that "10,000 writes" number above is not current-maybe that's what SSDs were 5 years ago (I haven't been following them THAT long). Certainly it was before TRIM support. If you look at a modern SSD on Newegg (say the 128GB Crucial M4 ), its MTBF is 1.2 million hours. Even using a marginal quantity of that admittedly misleading stat, it's easy to see that i
Back when I played frequently, I got into the habit of doing 121 week games and winning on uncovering alien conspiracies. It was a lot of fun.
Quoting GoaFan77, reply 1If you won on that platform in California without a second Clinton sex scandal I think they need to put more weight on the states starting political views. There is another reason for that. The game engine consider also your awareness on the State (MR 70% vs HC 68%). As the game was really fast (just 21 weeks), this 2 points helped me and I won there. I have even won Cali
If I'm not mistaken Soul Sole has proven without a doubt that the scores achieved by Harbourne and SpaceTimer were not even theoretically possible and therefore definitely required the use of a hex editor to crack the checksum protections that are in every MV game.
That's more or less correct, at least for Spacetimer's game(s). I can't say that I ever looked at Harbourne's, but if they're comparabl
I've forgotten precisely, but the upper limit on score simply due to how the game calculates it is around 27 million. Of course, this could never happen in a real game, and it'd be few enough turns that it'd get flagged simply for that. But anyway. :) Colonization has always been where it's at for me. I've been known to quit a game after colonizing the last planet and start a new one just to see how much better I could do-repeatedly.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of the % solution to farms. For one, we've already got a % improvement. Secondly, this makes food bonus tiles not only redundant, but completely and utterly useless. I do however like the 1pp limitation. I haven't tried this-farms is not something I've gotten to-but have you considered having farming tech unlock upgrades to the initial colony and/or civilization capital? Coupled with a small standalone 1pp farm (say

Yeah, this definitely isn't something you could turn out in an afternoon, whereas the typical ZYW is. I really do appreciate your efforts to inject more fun into the MV. :) And I'm seriously considering doing that no-research game I suggested not too long ago; it should be quite the challeng
Can anyone give me the idea behind this strat?
If you're simply looking for a general overview, it was a...how should I put this...no-holds-barred colony rush. It wasn't designed to be a ZYW, but Mumble felt like submitting it as one. More details will be forthcoming after I've gotten a game of my own in, as I suspect you'll have quite a few more questions then. I don't mean to unnecessarily
-Windows 7 Home Premium is restricted to seeing 16GB of memory. Higher versions can see up to 192GB, which is effectively no limit with non-server machines. You can "bypass" this limit by using ReadyBoost, as there's an additional limit set for that. -Can't give you recommendations without knowing budget and intended use. Based purely on the information you've provided, I'd suggest you look into Sager/Clevo barebone resellers who do custom builds such
The one thing I want for GC3 is a Mod Metaverse.
You can't find it in the manual, as it isn't mentioned there. It is a limit on the amount of techs you can research in one turn due to high research output. The formula is N+1, where N is the number of planets you have. I.e., if you have only your homeworld you can research 2 (1+1) techs in one turn. Keep in mind, however, that you can only research several techs in one turn, if they are in line after your current research proj
You already asked this.
Shouldn't the Drengin have a higher production assist and/or mining value than the Korath, since they don't kill their slaves? In fact, arguably, the Korath should be weaker than the other races in these regards, as they come from a culture designed around slaves for these purposes, and they've removed that part from the equation.
Something to do with how Windows treats the fonts that are used right after install. I think it's been discussed in marginally more detail in other threads along the same lines, but that's all I remember.
Literally every time I've ever seen this mentioned, rebooting the computer has fixed it. If you've done so after the reinstall mentioned above, then either wait for Kryo or someone else at SD to weigh in, or submit a support ticket at Stardock Support .
How long it takes to build an improvement is related to how many factories you have on the planet, your racial social bonuses & econ SBs, and of course what you can afford. There's no point in having half a dozen factories on every planet if you can only afford to run them at half their capacity. 1) Build more factories. 2) Build more stock markets (better economy). Edit: Oops, forgot something. Also, if you have a planet which is of a type that you
