One thing I'd like to see, if that folks who have GC2+ both expansions should get the ability to DL Ultimate edition. The legacy apps may migrate to SDC but might not. You can always get your apps at https://store.stardock

Not only Colbert (although I'm not sure if he was ever officially in it), but perhaps Perry, Bachmann, Cain (sex scandals included!), Huntsman, and others? I understand the desire to focus it on the actual happenings of 2012, but I think most of us would find it more interesting with all of the 2011/2012 candidates. In particular, with the plethora (unironic use) of Republican candidates as opposed to the inabundance of Democrat candidates, the game would seem rather empty
and getting a high score in Gal Civ seems to be more about end-game grinding than winning quickly, as far as I can tell.
It's a bit of both, actually. The sooner you "win", the more you can grind, and the higher your score. But you'll reach a point sooner or later where your score no longer goes up-it actually goes down -and although "winning" earlier results in a higher score, it means this drop p

D'oh, I hadn't considered the possibility of getting a tech from the AI that one hadn't yet researched. This is what I get for always outresearching the AI... But that's definitely an issue with AI-to-AI relations, so I suppose that method wouldn't work, at least by itself; they'd need to be untradeable/unstealable after all.

@Motti Unfortunately, due to TA's slower tech pace, as well as the plenty of filler techs that have been added, it's not suitable for scoring, either.

If memory serves, you can name the government techs differently in each racial tree (particularly Thalans and Yor, perhaps even Iconians, possibly even Drengin and Korath-come on, who really thinks they use a normal government?) to have them give different bonuses per race without actually increasing the quantity of techs in the game or running into issues with trading/stealing. Since governments themselves are hardcoded, I assume any such endeavour would either be pu

Make it a little earlier, that way.
Survey module is Sensors (I) already. Even in TA on Very Slow research, it doesn't take but at most perhaps 4-6 months (16-24 turns) to make a competitive survey ship, since all you really need is ion drive and sensors I. 1) Breeder gets an additional 4x multiplier only at 100% for a total of 8x, whereas normal races get 2x at 100%. 2) 100% is 2x, 76% is 1.25x, 41% is 1x, and 20% is zero growth, from memory. 3) Correct; it was Mumble who pointed out that score is front-end loaded. It's possible someone else stated so before him, but if so that was before my time.

8) It can be helpful to have a factory or two on any planet in order to speed up construction. One farm is generally good, while two is normally the maximum you'll want to use. 9) You can specialize influence if you like, but entertainment is on a per-planet basis, so specializing that won't help. Not many of us bother too much with influence, though. 10) Trade goods have nothing to do with trade routes. They're basically just Galactic Achievement

Research cost is not the only factor that the AI uses in determining how much it'll charge you for a given tech. However, since it is the primary factor, generally you can narrow down the techs that take the longest by seeing what is most valuable to them; offer up your best tech and see what techs (individually) they won't trade for it. If your diplomacy is subpar you may need to offer up multiple techs, but take care not to offer techs in the same bran

It increases the value of any industry-producing improvement on the tile, by the stated value, or in this case +7x the base value. In other words, factories, and, for the Thalans, Hyperion Matrix also qualifies-but not percentage increase buildings such as power plants, the manufacturing capital, or the several similar buildings that are in the Drengin tree.

Regardless of how well tweaked an AI is, it tends to die off quickly if it doesn't have many worlds nearby to colonize, and particularly if it's in a very tight pocket in between two or more other races. In other words, the spawn locations, with respect to the planets generated, have more of an effect than almost anything else (exceptions: that bug where AIs failed to build planetary improvements, that bug where AIs failed to research/build fighters) in determining who your ri

@evilroc 3) In the opponent selection screen in game setup, click on each race in turn and adjust relations. This probably happened to you after playing one of the campaigns-relations don't properly reset afterwards for some reason. 2) Double click on a planet to go into the planet itself, click details, then click governor. You can also get to this screen by selecting a planet on the galaxy map and pressing ctrl+P in TA. Deselect "auto upgrade improvemen

@Motti Being threatened is always a good sign! :) @Neilo Would you care to run it on Very Slow tech for me? ;) It looks like I should have my desktop up and running again inside two weeks, so I'll probably hold off on starting anything until then. But I'm taking recommendations on tech speed for my next few games in the pipeline-especially that one where I can't research, that's going to be loads of fun!

Also, it's all about how long you've had your ships, and my understanding is he only got the ship in question in the very late game.

All civs play by the same rules. If you disable tech victory as a win condition, anyone can still research it (and sometimes the AI will, even with it disabled), but it doesn't cause the game to end, or determine a "winner", and the same is true for the other win conditions.
