Hi, Im a newbie, but a student of the game. Since I couldn't find a specific Q&A forum, I thought I would start one. Current questions that linger in my mind- How do "tiny" hordes of ships with maxed minitiarization fare against larger capital ships? Will the capital ships kill one every time they shoot, or do they spread their fire out more efficiently? Im about to find out, one way or the other, but thought I would get a heads up on what to anticipate. Cheers,<br

One tactic I noticed that works well is researching a bunch of time-intensive research techs while having the slider leaning heavily towards research, and then, to let the planets catch up, switch the slider to social, during which time you research all the cheap and cheesy techs. Researching and building in phases works well, especially managing huge civilizations. Cheers, Boogly
PS--I know how it is to forsake all else for a game of GCIV and an empty cup of coffee! And to Zyxpsilon, the game you describe reminds me of the first DA campaign scenario. Boog
Hi all! Well, I pulled it off on my second try. The colony rush just didn't favor me the first time, and I realized I didn't even know where all of the races were by midgame, so I restarted. The second time, I got lucky in the colony rush and got very lucky with the placement of the minor races, having all but three located fairly close. With the super-breeder, I was able to expand like crazy. After getting the edge in research and infra-structure techs, I focused my research priori
Want a fun and challenging game? Try this. I am currently having a blast playing this scenario, which I call "Groovy Green Peace." Got ideas for fun and challenging games (set-up, scenario, etc)? post them here. The setup: Large galaxy. Abundant- stars, planets, habitable planets, asteroids, etc. Also abundant-races! Use 8 minor races and 9 major ones, including all the evil races (esp. the Yor), the Arcaens, and the Drath. Enable all victory conditions. Game difficulty
I would be happiest to pay more for a greater diversity of options within the already defined boundaries of the game: * More races that played more uniquely (as in upcoming unique tech trees per race). * More options for diplomacy (as in aforementioned suggestions). * More options/ greater depth of details involving economics/trade (species-specific currencies with fluctuating comparative values or a galactic stock market). * More technologies (especially uniq
