NEUTRALITY RESEARCH CENTERS! yay!

4gb of Ram and still running out of memory...sheesh. I have some thoughts....Im getting these crash errors as well...still...in TA beta and usually just in time to ruin the climax of an end game...its NOT my system. My specs more than double the recommended. A search using the term "memory" in these forums reveals that this has been an ongoing problem with a long history. My thoughts are "Hey...maybe we can solve this ongoing problem before kicking off the NEXT expansion."
PS- For those who are having "No problem" with the Yor, I like to play with tech trading off and no minor races for max challenge. As it is, that is simply not feasible.
Wow...That New Guys Recon on the Korx was accurate. Still, excess of cash doesnt seem to perplex me much when my mantra is greed. I am playing the largest galaxy size, and fortunately there are plenty of things to want (a maxed out starbase or two in every sector, for instance). While victory is not in doubt, I am feeling less competetive when I play the Korx....its more like the universe is my personal playground, and, rather than simply struggle to survive, it is a pleasure just t
Another point is that rather than nerfing a given race, the others need to be stronger. So in a way your post turns into the Yor are weak, and/or the AIs are not playing strongly. I agree wholeheartedly, but the benchmark HAS to be the AIs. As it is, they are unable to stand vs. humans and Krynn. In response to comments about the Yor not having economic difficulty, I'd suggest playing a bit more because if you havent had to research the final tech on efficiency, you def
So what is up with the relative balance of the new races as the game now stands? Before we get started, everyone should bear in mind that this is a single player game and that game settings can be tweaked to give every race a challenging game. I already read one rant where a fellow was flaming that his race was "ruined." With the new expansion still in beta, the author of one thread was already threatening to throw in the towel...sheesh! The devs are all over these threads, so...stay cool an
Getting out of memory errors in TA now as well...grrr...gigantic galaxy, an incredible amount of time invested, and now it cant/wont save, so...After reading the above it seems its a chronic problem. I thought that reduced memory graphics in TA for planets and ships would help, but...for all practical purposes, it seems I am limited to playing smaller games, though my machine exceeds recommended specs by far.
Thanks for the tips, journeymen. Whoot! A small or tiny hull with a colony module. It would have taken me forever to think of that.
Also, the Yor ROCK during colony the rush phase...The military/social production, combined with the ability to build so many choices if NO MAINTENANCE buildings make them able to expand very rapidly/efficiently while using that social production to at least be building something while waiting for populations to grow.
The Yor in my experience with TA are very good at production. If you want to play them as they seem to be conceptualized by game designers in TA, Id suggest going Industrialist political party and putting some of your customization points in social/military production. The production advantage the Yor have is most noticeable in the early game, I find. I also think that they do pretty well with the efficiency techs for economics (only in the early game tho). Mid and late game, I hav
Hmmm...too bad for me. I was the one with the fleets of smaller ships. I have a new question tho...I am playing a game where I can actually see the destinations of enemy vessels. It seems very unfair, and I hate taking advantage of it, but...is this a bug or what?
I have to add to my last- I was a bit disappointed to see so little in the way of cultural domination techs for the Yor. I mean, cybernetics has to be the ultimate way for a machine species to subvert the biological. Virtual reality has the same potential. I dont use a LOT of cultural domination as the Yor, just enough to help solidify my own territory (we are isolationists, after all). I might also see justification of exceptional surveillance/ perhaps espionage abilities associat
Ive seen little communication from players to stardock on tech-tree/customization suggestions. We all have our favorite race; we all have some definate ideas about what we would like to see. While it might be a bit late for Stardock to use customer ideas as a driving force for race customization, balancing issues will remain and the game will continue to be updated frequently. So...who is your favorite race and what touches would you LIKE to see to individualize them? My favorite ra
Came back....couldnt stay away. Couldn't stand the ship movement bug in DA so bought TA and am having a riot of a good time with the Beta. The Yor are very special, and the Terror Stars are very well done. Happy for now, Boogly
Thanks Far--Okay... just played my first game with Terror stars and they are great! What seemed less than obvious until Farout pointed it out is that, to pull the trigger, you have to drive right up to the star (not a planet) and, with Terror Star selected (and a move still) left DOUBLE RIGHT CLICK THE TARGET STAR. If you have ships in the blast radius and/or you will cause casualties to someone with whom you currently are not at war a pop-up window will show up advising you of conse
I have multiple terror stars built...and mobilized, equipped with all modules, etc. I have driven them right up to enemy planets and stars. What I have been lacking is simply a way to trigger the death ray weapon...? Can someone just give me detailed instructions on how to pull the trigger? Ive got them made and driving them around, etc....but no way to shoot thus far, even at point blank range. Thanks. Boogly PS-Playing Yor, like the fellow above, if it matters.
The latest chapter of my discontent hails from newly downloaded version 1.8g. Fleeted ships aren't moving like their supposed to. Carielf published a supposed fix with test version 1.8f, but I cant seem to get it to work. This new bug is tedious enough to make the game unplayable, for me, at least. As a substitute teacher without a gig today, I have done little else but wrestle with it, through various means, unsuccessfully. Fighting bugs, in this game, should mean killing Thalans,
Eta on public 1.8 f? The aforementioned fix just isn't jiving.
Well, I still can't seem to nurse even a fleet of two defenders to their destination. I am sure I could fuss with them and figure probably figure something out eventually, using rally points, reinstalling and running those zipfiles again, looking into installing "smartexeption" (whatever that is), praying, sprinkling holy water, or otherwise bogging my brains out trying to figure out what is up, but the fact is that fighting bugs to me means killing Thalans, not game glitches. I adore
I am convinced that I got it right. Both the aforementioned files read "last updated" to the appropriate time. What I am not sure of is that it fixed the pathing issue (I know as far as games already going, it did not). I also hope I am not going to be in too serious trouble for not backing up those files (just flat couldn't figure it out, sorry). Thanks for the tips. -Boogly
Thanks for the tips. I was indeed able to remedy the stuck turn button somewhat by manually cycling through the ships. Setting the "Tactical zoom slider" to make everything all icons, all the time, sounds appropriate to what I hope to see from this game, and I will definately look into that. To Dystopic regarding your quote: this kind of tone makes you sound like a child (albiet one with an above-average vocabulary), frustrated and disappointed with your new birth
Okay...I have opened what Im convinced are the requisite windows and extracted folders to somewhere in the ballpark where their supposed to go, I am convinced. The bug is still not fixed, Im afraid. I am also afraid that what seems to be intuitive to the crowd at large here is quite simply beyond me me. For instance, I have no earthly clue where to go for a debugger file. I cant just flame and go to a console game because Im not a console gamer. The complexity of games like gciv2
I swear I must be the the only one who cant seem to follow along when you folks put patches and zipfiles and cut n paste n download instructions...especially when the tone of the post is "simply do this..." grr...
COOL SWIRLIES AND RIDGES FOR OUR SHIP WINGS OR PLANET TILES????!!!! And do cake decorations matter more than the flavor of the cake itself??? I love this game, which is why I am so frakked...love and hate so closely intertwined...but I AM TIRED OF memory problems, graphics card concerns, bugs, etc that stem LARGELY from development directions that are better left to other games. I mean, c'mon, I would play this game if there were cheesy space invaders graphics. Can we please just get
Hi. I have been putting a LOT of time and energy into a gigantic galaxy size game (I like the grandiose, you see) and have gotten to the point where I feel little can stop me from reaching a tech victory. So...I have been doing a lot less managing and doing little but hitting that "TURN" button until...guess what? THE TURN BUTTON DISAPPEARS...so I reload from autosave, try it again, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS. I cant create more saves because of the memory bug associated with large
