Wish these pics were linked to bigger versions. I'm always interested to see what parts are being used how.

Actually DethAdder your design reminded me of this: [link="http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/wacky-races/the-soviet-union-vs-us-jet-train-race-293010.php"]Soviet Union VS. US Cold War Jet Train Race[/link]
DethAdder--the animation looks cool. The design kind of looks like some kind of cross between a bullet train and a flying hand iron. I do really like the bullet train looking front of it. I think you should stretch out that rear and slap some big engines on it and it would look pretty wild. LordKona--that is pretty sweet man. I like the way you used the weird special edition triangular deals...one of my heavily used and abused pieces too. RogueIdea--Man get a new(er) graphi
I like the look of the Tallenbach...but why no textures? It really takes away from the designs.
The Crusades and Jihads, like every other war/conflict was never really about religion, but struggles for power and resources. Religion and political ideologies are only convenient pretexts to war. If we somehow manage to solve the problem of limited resources, big scale conflicts will greatly diminish. And, the good thing is that we are slowly getting there. Fusion technology is getting closer to be realised, bioengineering (our search for cures for diseases and ageing) is const
Sweet scorpion Haz. You're right: the Shipyard is unbelievable. Latest from my yard...a rebuild of one of my first and still most favorite designs. Really crunching the graphics card on this one.
...EDIT:: Let me state the events more clearly... Loaded saved game, did not take a turn, just clicked on shipyardMade a new ship design without components, just the shell, Saved the ship design, Bought the ship, completed one turn so that I could see how it looked out in the "open" Quit the game (Did not save the game, before exiting.) ::At a later date:: Loaded said game, ship design not in menu Upon investigation found the ship name and f
I too was wondering whether or not there's an official word on this question...since I spend more time designing than actually playing in large measure my decision to purchase TA or not hinges on this.
awesome..time to download and rip those things apart!!!! Ahmen....uhm...I just wanna see how they tick? very awesome pack man!
Thanks. BTW, I understand completely.
Well it took almost a month but my first ship design pack was apparently approved and is available for download from the library. Enjoy...and let me know what you think.
Actually I agree with the decision/reasoning for no multiplayer--however it seems like one of the most compelling reasons for multi-player would be the ability to "show off" ship designs to other players over the course of the game...perhaps a "Virtual Shipyard" would be a good idea? Players could visit other players Shipyards and see the designs in their full in-game glory...spin them around zoom in and get a better view than mere screen-shots allow for and if the "owner" was willing d
I am not saying it is the best way to play or the most fun but many of my games are won without a single war or conquest. Expansion is neccessary and the ability to defend oneself is usually critical but war and conquest are not neccessary.
Yes but you miss my point... survivability is still tied to resources in a way that makes being a "minor" empire of say only 7 worlds in a gigantic map with much bigger empires not economically viable. Though good Sci-fi and
Any organism, and thus any civilization's ultimate goal is survival. This is where the 4X genre fails.... ...If GC3 is to win rave reviews as worthy of being a new release from an established brand, then the underlying political economy models must reflect that, for "sentient" species at least, there is more to life than mere survival.
I agree. The problem I think is the one dimensional and linear relationship between amount resources & game power. Devising a new mod
Any organism, and thus any civilization's ultimate goal is survival. In this game, you have to expand in order to survive.
I'd really like to see a game that didn't operate on that principle: i.e., survival necessitates expansion. It would be interesting I think to play the game in d
sorry...double post.
It's amazing how all the analysis and stories in this thread contrast with the actual game mechanics.... ...It's called a Drone Cruiser because, according a rudimentary 'story' I had though out for it, it was to make heavy use of robotics and nanotechnology to minimize the crew required(this is also the reason why the ship uses all-Yor parts). The story never got completed since I continued with the game instead.
That made me laugh. Because it's so true.
The Ophois is a very impressive vessel constantine, is it based on a medium or large hull? I'm going to guess at large given the Shogun references (thanks, I didn't know the Shogun was good enough for comparisons with others work)
It's actually based on a Terran Alliance "Huge Hull" but I'll probably go into the .xml file and edit it so that the game will think it is only a "Large" hull. That's another little trick--DA stores the information on Hull size separately from
Fate: That's pretty sweet. It looks like that one engine is cocked a little bit you can fix that up no prob by changing your degree rotation in the menu to 1 degree, go back into the shipyard, adjusting it manually by 1 degree increments, save, then go back to the menu and putting your parts rotation back to whatever rotation you normally use. It seems like that one set of engines didn't light up...I hate that glitch. Anyway, I wanted to get in on this too: [I]Ophoi
Nice stuff Mzuz & Homsar. The MaidenFrame, Cerberus, and Orca Touris have been submitted to the library and are pending approval for those interested.
It's very nice as usual F.V. I'll have a few more to post soon hopefully. And my first mech type is coming along nicely.
Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing your stuff...I've actually got a new armor/mecha I've just finished: Valkyrie Maiden Frame-Armor Model VLK-81 "MaidenFrame" Tiny Hull, DA (No Mods) [img]http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/sc
I was one of those that did it before, but I like yours better! Do you have an Enterprise?
Nah...this was just a one time thing. I always liked the Reliant (cooler) more than the Enterprise and I woke up in the morning yesterday and the thought just occurred to me and I knew exactly what pieces I would need to use so I googled some reference pics and did it. Now that I look at it though I think I need to shrink those engines down just a bit.
Well I know it's been done before...but nonetheless: Miranda Class Frigate [img]http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/scarydromedary/GC2DA_TerranAllia
daviddude: That is stunning. I do think however, that only having lifeboat capacity for .01% of the passengers would result in total chaos during an emergency...or do they just lock the 2nd & 3rd class compartments? :)
I don't claim to be a good player, but the precaution I take when playing w/Mega Events is to change my auto save to every 4 turns. That way if some super-cheap event (particularly Jagged Knife & the always annoying Spies everywhere) does come to pass, I can respond with my own equally cheap reload.
