Replying to OP: because socialism is terrible for society/people/countries and the free market is good. This coming from a person educated about the issues, who actually has--gasp--reasons for believing the above. I'm not going to enumerate my arguments, because there's no point in getting into a socialism v capitalism argument, because no-one will convince anyone else. I understand that people have completely opposite positions from me. What I take offence to, and what I am respondin

It would be nice if this could be taken care of: https://forums.galciv2.com/366363 (strange AI taunt behavior) Here's something I suggested once that would still be very nice: https://forums.galciv2.com/366364 (ability to randomize some races in a game while disabling or choosing others) Also, one thing I find myself doing often is switching between the Domestic window (for setting taxes) and the colony governor window (for seeing their ef

I thought of a small feature in Galciv that I, for one, would find very useful if Stardock had the time to code it into the next update. You can pick and choose races in the game setup screen, or you can set the number of races and randomize the race choice. It would be very useful, especially for those who have created custom races, for us to be able to, while selecting the 'random' option, pick out some races to not be included and some to definitely be included.</p

This is probably a known bug, but I thought I'd just bring to your attention that the AI, when taunting the player, (e.g. Haha! I am now researching XENO BIOLOGY! You're real screwed now!) fails to take into account whether it actually knows the player . Then of course we can conduct trade with some race who we've never even seen. I like the taunts, but it seems probable that a few simple lines of code could add a check to see if the race has met the player before taunting. (N

Definitely I'll install from Impulse. I said so in the first place. So it's probably an individual disc issue. To clarify, scratches in the disc could cause it to stop spinning, and the arm to click?

Sorry, I meant my DVD/CD disc, not the hard disc. I should have made that clear. I suppose that could apply to my disc drive too though. But here's the update: once that happened, I power-buttoned off. I tried again, and the exact same thing happened. But, I just succeeded installing a totally different game off a disc.

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if the tech buffs in these forums had guesses as to what happened with my disc (drive)/computer. I was attempting to install Galciv2, gold, from disc, on my new Macbook, BootCamp dual booted with Vista. When it got to about 25% installed, things started to freeze up. THe install program totally froze up. The disc, which normally makes the *whirrRRRRRRR...* noise, as it spins I assume, began to make the noise: *whirrrRRR* *click* *WHIRrrr* a

There are techs to research, which give flat bonuses to speed sometimes (drives). These techs unlock engines, which are ship components. So: tech "X Drive" gives +10 to speed. It unlocks the "X Drive" component, which gives a further bonus.

The game is stored in two directories. The one you know, and the one that you say doesn't exist. It does. /Program Files/ is hidden by default. Show hidden files.
it's a minor inconvenience that could be easily fixedOh? If it's that easy to program, why don't YOU do it?Do not do this. I HATE this argument. No, he does not have to progrm the answer himself in order to have an idea for improving something. There are people who are paid to do this. This is this person giving them a suggestion or request. You can have a political idea without writing legislation yourself. This forum is largely for suggestions and discusiion for and of the game.
Many to most have been fixed in later versions. You may luck out and have them ported to DL 2.0, but I suggest you abandon your Luddite ways and come to DA, if not TA.
