Let's look at the positive side of exploding oil prices, in that it forces an inevitable change, that should have happened long ago. Oil is so vital, that without it our economy and society stops to a halt - a fact every child knows. Why then are we so foolish to let the oil take us hostage? Why do our governments trust in guessed, supposed, extrapolated or faked numbers about remaining oil reserves and production capacity? Everybody talks about the post-industrial information age, but

The version is 1.91.021 downloaded from StarDock Central. Just to be sure, I repeated the procedure you describe: uninstall GalCiv2:TA via SDC, deleted folder My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor and reinstalled. No change, at least issue 1) remains. If the uninstall of the beta is broken, then maybe are there more "zombie files" elsewhere? What information would be helpful? What can I try?

I experienced some problems when running GalCiv2:TA on Windows Vista SP1 (also tested on XP). Runs on a Q6600 with GeForce 8800 GTS and all drivers up to date. The first thing I tried was to uninstall everything and delete all game folders, then reinstalling. First I have to disable "Hardware T&L" and "Enhanced ship rendering" to have it stable, but I can live with that. Major problems remain: 1) Can't select custom race! The icon for the choice simply does not appear. <

So it seems to confirm that the Iconian tree has no government techs. Is this by design or just an omission? Would be fine, if one of the devs could make this clear. I always regarded the government forms as a core game feature, like ethical alignment is. @Tototot: The Precursor Achive and Library are awesome. This is why I thought it would be a good idea with my custom super breeder race. The (only) morale building gives 25% bonus but costs quite a bit of maintenance (5bc), so being at

This is also incoherent with buying buildings, which get finished even if the social production is 0%. You even get all of the benefits of the building immediately. For social production: Why doesn't the game, here too, just reduce the price to 1 BC and the building is finished the next turn? - because it makes no sense! I'm not suggesting to have the ships bought and ready to go on the same turn, but when the ship is bought, I expect it to be delivered in the next turn. Don't mind bein

Didn't go through the entire tech tree, but the Tech "Laser" should give a new starbase defense module that I could never build. Noticed similar issues with modules of other races, namely the module "Fighting Drones" or something, that was never buildable. I'm using the lastest version downloaded from Stardock Central.
