No custom race in TA under Vista...

I experienced some problems when running GalCiv2:TA on Windows Vista SP1 (also tested on XP). Runs on a Q6600 with GeForce 8800 GTS and all drivers up to date.

The first thing I tried was to uninstall everything and delete all game folders, then reinstalling. First I have to disable "Hardware T&L" and "Enhanced ship rendering" to have it stable, but I can live with that. Major problems remain:

1) Can't select custom race! The icon for the choice simply does not appear.

2) The game almost always crashes during planetary invasion. I can prob. give a dxdiag printout later.

On XP it's a pretty ok, however I have to kill the GC2TwilightOfTheArnor.exe process manually when the game crashes.

Both of those sound like the beta. Do you have the latest release version, and did you install it cleanly by removing the beta and any existing My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor folder first?

The version is 1.91.021 downloaded from StarDock Central. Just to be sure, I repeated the procedure you describe: uninstall GalCiv2:TA via SDC, deleted folder My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor and reinstalled. No change, at least issue 1) remains.

If the uninstall of the beta is broken, then maybe are there more "zombie files" elsewhere? What information would be helpful? What can I try?

If it's a clean install, I'm not sure what else could cause it. This is with a regular sandbox game, not a scenario or anything too?

Yes, it is a regular game. I'll place my hopes on the next patch and further trial&error testing.
