I downloaded this from sourceforge. and downloaded .net 2.0 from microsoft and have GC2 gold edition with dark avatar and when i unzip the file I can see any instructions on how to install the editor and there is no executable file. So the question I have is what am I doing wrong?

The devs have previously said that Mega Events don't appear at random, they occur when certain situations arise. Its entirely possible that the same is true of the minor events, and colonization events. If so, the fact that you were using the same save over and over again might ruin your results. It would be better to try many more games, and colonize different kinds of planets, at different times, when your empire is in a different state. Try that for a few hundred ga
Ta. Thanks for all the help guys.
Thanks moosetek. I got it to work after starting freah from a back up. What ever i did was working in an odd manner because even when i cut and pasted the Sol system and just changed the names of sol and earth I would get the solar system with the earth template and mars ect. But the names would NOT be right just the standard default names. But now everything is working. Attention to detail is critical indeed.
Ok even that didn't work. I think I might have corrucpted the very tail end of this file in terms of format. So I'm going to try starting fresh again with the back up and see if I can get things to work from there. Thanks for the help though.
The is actually in the file i accidently missed putting in the spaces or i deleted it when I was putting in the spaces one or the other. But things are not working even with the and fixes. I'm going to run an experiment. And post the results. i'm going to copy the sol system with its name and planets, cut and past it upon the current modded system and see if i can't get the names to show up. Everything else works. I've added and subt
Man this is so bloody frustrasting I also have the proper tabs and the like in the actual file.

Ok I have made a custome race and i can't seem to get my custom solar system to work correctly. I the system to semi work but not fully. i get the right values for all the planets but not thier correct names and I get 3 asteroids not four. So what is going wrong? Obviously its reading this as the planet because its giving me the two planets a lvl 8 with the home world a ring and the sister planet a moon so I've got the right name in the customrace file. (If you get my meaning.) Help ple
I think the AI will be all right with this; part of the way it was programmed was to be flexible and to adapt. Only way to find out though is to try it out. <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_7 title="Visit the AltMeta!" src="http://amcore.kryofx.com/sig/8917/2.png" onload=ImageR
Let us know how that pans out please! Ok range appears to most dramaticly effected by the racial range ability and not by techs. So the only way to dramaticly reduce range is to modify the racial range stat to -150. This reduced the range to about a 3 sector radius. Which greatly increases the feel of the galaxy because you can't explore a large chunk of it right away which means investing in colonies and statbases. Ironicly I think i f
If i adjust the space in a given hull size will the AI be able to take advantage of teh increased space? And if an engine is twice the size will the AI be able to adjust to this? What if the engine sizes are reduced in hull space? Will the Ai know to use the extra space for other things? Can the AI even make its own custom ships? I ask because in my goal to monkey around with making the 18x18 map feel much larger i have tried to reduce the ranges and speeds of starships. In the process
Actually looking at the post I thought delt with speed doesn't he only addressed the range issue. Still range will at least make the map seem bigger.
To Webreg. I have to say that your post was an utter disappointment. It was a simple knee jerk reaction to my. You had an agenda and that was to "educate" me and had no thought to the merits of the post itself. Your comment One final note - "randomness" is weird. Sometime you do get 10 heads in a row illustrates this perfectly. I said clearly in my post that the sample size was small, I am well aware that random results can be perfectly random and still
Which is what size and tech option as suppost to do. Give you the option to play the game at the speed you desire. I am not advocating that you shouldn't have the game you desire. I am advocating an option to get the game I desire. And I see no incapatability with giving YOU the option and providing ME and others who feel the same the option to play Games with eras of technology and a feeling of great distances in the galaxy. I don't see why you would care that i want options to provide a larger
I tried to make the range changes and failed. Think i screwed up something when I worked on it. So I'm going to try again tonight. i heard that it is possible to mod speed as well. So I'm trying that but it doesn't appear to be as straight forwards as range mods.
Note I used the same names for the random events as the wiki WWW Link A * indicates i could not find it under the list of events, my guess is that these events where added in, in later patches.
I am new to the game and have noticed that ethical events do not appear to be all that random upon colonization of a planet. In fact the same ones seem to allways show up. This is making the game rather repeatative even after just 3 games. My first impression was that this was just my imagination, but after 4 straight High-Tech Hijack I thought I'd test my theory. So I started up a new game and moved the colony ship to a planet and saved the game. I colonize the same planet ov
There is an event that provides a bonus but i can't figure out that the bonus is/does. here is the event High-Tech Hijack Your explorers have discovered an extremely high-tech ship orbiting the planet. It's populated with a small crew, but to thoroughly dismantle and research the vessel's construction would prove useful in our ship manufacturing skills. What is your decision on the matter? Good Option: We are not in the business o
Really, the only thing I agree with you here on is that research happens too fast. That said, you are totally free to your opinion. Wow so you don't agree with anything else in my post? You must hate this game then. I like the interface and while there is a learning curve to remembering where everthing is and exactly where i can do x. It is for the most part intuitive and provides massive amounts of info on v
I am a touch confused on your post. You can pick map sizes from tiny to gigantic in sandbox mode. All you have to do is pick a gigantic map and set the planet/star settings down to a low frequency. Getting twelve or fifteen planets for your race on a gig map is pretty sparse and will feel like a very large map. He gets it. His thing is that for him, even a gigantic map is way too small. Thats exactly rig
Ta. i agree about the core files i have a back-up folder for any file i work on and then I have a work folder where I work on the file seperate from the back-ups and the game files. keeps things from going boom. Thanks for the help about teh range issue i'll give that a go and see how things play out. I think that at least things will feel larger in that I have limited range and can't go 1/2 way across the map with little effort. its too bad speed isn't moddable but two out of
