I use the sticks too. With them, I've been able to build my stack of containers, but its kinda a pain to do it, and it multiply the number of components used by two or three! So connecting components by another anchor point than their default one would still be very very usefull. However, I dont put sticks everywhere. When I work on a design, I follow the flow and I dont know when its going to be a big stack or not.

I discovered GalCiv2 only recently (less than a week!) but I already love it. I expecially love the shipyard, spending more time building good looking ships than actually playing the game! However, I think some things could use some tweaking, as it make the creation of a good ship quite harder than it could be.
