I hadn't yet seen the new visualizer when I posted... it's awsome! Is this original or did they purchase it from someone else? (I've heard rumors) Furthermore, iTunes takes up the sams memory no matter which view is being used, which is terrible for people using machines with less than 3 gigs of memory, especially in conjunction with Vista...

iTunes 8.0 was released today, tuesday the 09th. Instal was easy and when I opened up iTunes it was pretty, in its new album art viewing mode. They've also added something called Genius, which adds a sidebar to iTunes that tries to force-feed you new music from their store. In addition, the memory usage of iTunes is up well over 4x what it was before, about 70k in album art view mode and now approx. 318k. Can anyone say memory hog? -

well, starkers... I too hate Google. I too know that all of their apps phone home. But I know that that info doesn't have any reference to me, just that a computer accessed a site. Oh, and btw, I think its always wise to opt into the tracking and such, because it helps keep things free for everyone else who doesn't. And if not free, it will help me make a buck when I need to know exactly how popular a website is when I sell my advertising to them.

Another possibility besides simply getting a single expensive card (especially if creating an ENTIRELY new machine) is to get a Crossfire or SLI mo-bo and go that route. I have a four way crossfire system with 4 ATI 3650's which I picked up for a total of $240 ($60 each, on sale). I don't own Crysis or anything to benchmark the setup with but its fantastic. Loud though, if you're queasy about soundproofing a case or purchasing a watercooled/air conditioned tower. Yes, the latter does exist if yo

Ok, so I got back from a long vacation to my (old, ok to mess with) PC. I go through my usual routine and then go to Microsoft Update like I habitually do. It recommends that I "upgrade" to sp3. (service pack 3) so i did. and now my 2.2 ghz machine is really slow loading windows and shutting it down. Anyone else have the same problem? and two: I was browsing through my tech news and I saw a piece about Internet Explorer 8. so i downloaded it and ... quite frankly unless you're a web dev

There is a method to the madness of consumers who drift away from PC's as their gaming center. Simply put, consoles can offer things that PC's do not offer the day the game is released. Fantstic graphics at a relatively cheap price. Take the xbox 360 for example: default graphics are HDMI into an HDTV while most PC's have no video support beyond DVI. PCs however will never die out as a video game market because their games are better protected against the wash of time. Eventually there

Well one of the selling points of the game for me was I DID get to design my own ships..... It was on the box and ... well i bought it... i LOVE designing my ships... And yes, unless you memorize or figure out what you have to reasearch to gain access to predesigned ships, designing your own is the only way to go.

Those are some awsome ideas. What I've been most frustrated for is why can't these so-called "unihabitable" worlds not be utilized by something? I don't know what to suggest but there could be some uses to these planets... take star wars for example. A planet made be made out of gas and be 100% inhabitable but that same planet is mined for rare crystals that form in its clouds! I'm sure there are uses to these rocks and balls of gas in the game... but why can't we use them? <br/
