Wow, it's been years since I've posted anything on here... I just downloaded GalCiv and the expansions to my new PC off of the Gamestop app, and I cannot connect to the Metaverse in ToA games. I can with DA, but it would be nice to have a record of my ToA games. When I attempt to do so, it tells me that I do not have the copy of Arnor registered, and I cannot seem to fin a place to do that, even thought I have the registration number. Any ideas would

The fact that GalCiv offers both visual styles is one reason it's such a fantastic game. Sure, I'd like to think that I don't need pretty pictures, and I use the icons for planning war strategies and such, but when I can zoom all the way in and see ships in orbit or the wonderful detail on my small ships, I fully appreciate the scope of the game. It's a lesson well learned if my limited experience with Sins is any indication.
Arceans = Better soldier% Dengrin = Better soldier% Drath = Diplomatic skills Altarian = Better research Korx = trade bonus Thalan = population Torian = ??? Iconian = ??? Yor = Increase Loyalty Terran = Increase Diplomatic skills Krynn = Increased Morale
I would say influence for the Torians. Not sure what would be best for the Iconians, maybe a small planet quality boost.
They've got a couple of comics out now, taking place between the end of the series and the movie. I think there are a lot of people who want it back, but not enough, and not the "right" people.
Do you think that if I had played out the same scenario on a higher difficulty setting the AI would have attacked me towards the end?
Rakenan, the situation was this: I was on my way to a diplomatic victory and the only thing left to do was get rid of two or three Korath planets. In order to take back the Jagged Knife planets I would have had to break an alliance with a major civ so I would not win the game. It really wasn't worth it.
My first ToA game is done, and I am very happy with the expansion. I did notice a couple of very small bugs, mostly concerning GNN construction reports, but nothing that took away from the game. I played as the Terrans, on a large map set to challenging. I got three Ascension crystals fairly early, and decided to try out the new victory. Shortly after, the Thalans declared war on me, citing my inte
This particular event has happened to me a couple of time, but it's usually pretty late in the game. A few games back I was playing as the Krynn, was just about done wiping out the Korath and was allies with everyone else. The newly created civ took five of my planets, and I considered breaking my alliances so I could take my planets back, but decided it wasn't worth it, really. I don't have any problem with random events (some of them are pretty cool), but I certainly agree that this particu
I just played about three hours worth of a Terran game (large map, challenging to start with) and I am quite happy with it. I don't have time to go into much detail, but I had a great experience. If I had to say right off what was my favorite thing, I would go with the Ascension Victory condition, if only because at this point I have three of the crystals and am set to win in about 250 turns. SDC says mine is ready. About to find out!
I agree with GW Swicord that starting in the middle can be something of a pain. I like having my own little corner of space, and being in the middle means everyone is in a hurry to get your goodies. Watching my borders expand from one small corner to cover the map is a big part of what I enjoy about the game.
I thought they were considered a minor race and you couldn't use spies on them.
The one and only time the Dread Lords ever showed up in my game I was playing as the Krynn and immediately placed several spies on their planet. It did the job as far as slowing their production and they only built two ships before I took the planet. BUT even though I got a high level of intel on them there was no report, which really disappointed me.
(I'm watching you, Dregins) Oddly enough, I WAS the Drengins... And, just out of curiosity, how does one access the debug.err file?
Joss Whedon is the best friend Television sometimes forgets it has. The movies he's worked on are good too; you can often pick out lines of his (they're the funny ones).
In my current game the United Planets passed a law which required all civs to "donate" three techs to each other. This was pretty cool for me, since I had been lagging behind in weapon research and I scored some lovely upgrades from my fellow civs. The only downside is that I gave everyone three of MY techs, but I have no idea which ones! Is there a quick & easy way to find out what I gave up? It's not going to matter in the long run (I hope) but it might be nice to know...
Hmmm... Monsters, healers, vampires and wraiths? Sounds like somebody thought we were playing Dungeons and Dragons...
themocaw , once again let us say "great story". And hopefully I'm not the only one that missed the connection at first, but realizing Liria's parentage absolutely gave me chills.
Why is it that some times i dont even have the option to ask for an economic or research treaty. some times i can ask but not offer, and other times i can offer but not ask... and other time i can do neither. You only have one of each treaty to give - once you've dedicated your economic treaty to the Yor, for example, you no longer have an econ treaty to offer someone else. Hope that's what you were asking.
Jessuins are biphallic, huh? Who knew?
And the other thing about treaties: if you declare war on a civ you have a treaty with, no one "trusts" you for the rest of the game (or at least for a very long time).
I've noticed that a Space Miner will only mine if you move it into the asteroid field yourself. This means it won't mine if the field is at the end of an automated movement (one that takes more than one turn). What I have to do is tell my Space Miner to go to a point right next to a field, and then manually move it into the field. I don't know if that is the case for everyone or if it's just a bug (or even if I'm describing things correctly), but it's no big deal once you get the hang
themocaw, this is some seriously good stuff.
It's always about the *richest* man in the world. Why not have a award for the poorest amn in the world? Becasue there would be quite a few tied for the honor...
I should have said before that I haven't played through the campaign. There may be a specific way you are supposed to do things in the campaign that differs from a "normal" game, and if so I apologize. But in a "normal"(sandbox) game the only way to invade is to use ships with troop modules, and that's generally only transport ships. Do you have the ability to research Planetary Invasion in the campaign game? Are there instructions to take the enemy planets in a specific way?
