As a side note, maybe unique techs should be tradeable only by the race who originates the tech. I play as the Arceans, I can pick and choose to trade Weather Control with my allies, but they can't turn around and trade it to my enemies, because I originated the technology. Not realistic perhaps, but trade goods are already like this, and it would certainly make things more interesting. Befriend the arceans to get weather control, or just

I think the Arceans have a bonus to creativity in one of their techs, but I'm not sure about that. I just remember someone getting creativity from the research tree. It still strikes me as something that shouldn't happen, "aha!" middle-of-the-night inspirations aside. It's a stat that's always in effect and groundbreaking achievements dont happen every day, every month or every year. Why would there be research funding if I can just rely on the off-chance that I'll get it for free anywa

I hope this is the right place to post this, but anyway I noticed a strange bug while playing Altarian with high research and the creativity skill. I usually play every game with very slow techs and I just sit back and research all the stuff I'm interested in while everyone else does their thing. Every time I do this, I get into a huge deficit and everything slows down for awhile while I try to make money again. Well, I noticed that if you have a high creativity, you have a chance of re

Does the arrival of the Dread Lords classify as a Mega Event? I'm assuming the hundreds of pirates spawning is a mega event, but I didn't know if the Dread Lords was - I like having them around, but hate the pirates so I wanted to know if I could turn off mega events safely and still see them. And also, what other things are mega events? The faction that spawns mid game and takes a few planets from everyone? Discoveries on planets? Every once in awhile I see something completely new and
Yeah for some reason they are weak at research yet they created one of the most powerful races. Also a creative bonus wouldnt hurt.
Yeah, good call. I had forgotten about that. It does seem strange that they created the Yor, but don't have anything to show for it. I would think they would be one of the leading researchers, but Altarians strangely have that honor (I'm not sure why, they seem more like Greenpeace to me).
I'd like to know what the rationale behind this is too. I'd also really like to know why it's impossible in a lot of cases to make a custom race that's as powerful bonus-wise as many of the starter races. (My xml coding doesn't count )
You know, I was wondering about this for awhile to, but

Oh, and I think there are only 4 races that start with less than 10 pts to spend. I know the Krynn (9), Refuge (7) and Torian (8) are the first 3, but I forgot the last one. All other races start with 10.

I was just wondering why the Torian and Iconian Refuge (arguably the least powerful civs) have the fewest points of all the races to distribute on extra abilities - while many of the civs with incredible bonuses (krynn and Yor come to mind) are given more points overall. Maybe its not really a balancing thing more than it is a game history thing, but it seems to me that every race should at least have the initial 10 points to spend on extra skills - or at least give the weakest races a
