Viewscreens across the Kzinti Empire flicker to life with the seal of the Imperial Riit family shining forth, indicating that an official message from the Patriarch will soon follow. As the emblem fades, the regal image of the Patriarch takes its place. Even though countless parsecs separate most of the Kzinti from their sovereign, the sheer power of his regal presence is overwhelming to many. As with all Kzinti warriors, there is also the hint of barely-leashed ferocity underlying his majest

Perhaps a trigger for conquest victory could be implemented where under certain circumstances all the other civs surrender to you. Victory conditions could be something like your military power is 3x that of the remaining civs combined AND the same requirement for your population and/or manufacturing power (shipbuilding potential), or some other aspect of empire power. Another idea is to simply downgrade the points for a conquest victory. It would have some collateral effects, like skewing sc

But..but..but..Marshal -- you're EVIL! I thought kicking them when they were down WAS the fun part?! drrider Evil can get bored too...you can only kick someone so much before that gets old too. If I wasnt posting scores to the metaverse I would almost never go for a conquest victory. I used to always go for influence or alliance victory, but i

yeah beeen good shud be harder I don't want to turn it on it's head, but there should be SOME times when choosing good actually pays off. And conversely, there should be times when being evil does NOT pay off. <A href="http://www

Evil is not stronger. It is faster, easier, more seductive. The straight and narrow path should be HARD to walk. I disagree. Faster & easier translates to stronger, at least in this sort of game setting. Also, in the real world, evil is typically is a lot more self-destructive than good. I think the evil choices should reflect this. Perhaps what one person said about short-term gains vs long-term benefits is a good idea. <A href="http://ww

I like the SimCity series, but I think I will be more likely to try CivCity: Rome, from the people who make the Civilization series. It looks pretty cool. You can check it out at www.civilization.com S

I think that there may be too many variables involved for a game with all AI opponents to play it out quickly . Thats just a guess though, and I may not know what I'm talking about. It would definitely be fun to sit back and watch the AIs compete for galactic dominance. <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_2 alt="Sentient species taste better..." src="http://www.mypicshare.com/thumbs/20070803/vqrpalpt.jpg" onload=ImageResiz

I'm watching too...I'm always curious to see how peace-loving civs fare, because it is different from how I generally play. <FONT co

I actually did finally have the Peacekeepers event happen in a game a few days ago. I didn't happen to be at war with anyone at the time, and and my influence was stronger than any other empire, so I had no ships or starbases in enemy territory. All other empires had their ships & bases destroyed while I sat back and watched them all get whacked. I avoided being attacked by the Peacekeepers by gradually eating away at enemy planets only within my sphere of influence with both conquest and cul

Yep, that was the first thing I tried, and I'm not able to do that either. I think I'll end up just losing the points. That's annoying, but not a huge deal. On to the next game... BTW, the sole reason I changed the nickname, was because I decided to change my empire status to "open" (trying to get some other players) and I wanted my nickname to be related to the idea of the empire in some way,

I totally agree. Evil has the best buildings & techs in my opinion, and all the ethical choices reward you for being evil. I would definitely like to see different beneficial effects for good vs evil choices, and some events where the good choice is beneficial, but the evil choice is detrimental, and vice versa. Or some events where each choice at the extremes results in something bad, or good. This would make playing a pure alignment more difficult and realistic. Neutral rewards/penalties

I changed my nickname in the middle of playing a rather long game, and I think because I started playing it under the old nickname, and now have the new login info, I cant report the game. It keeps asking for the old nickname, but wont let me change it on the metaverse login screen. I can login and create a new metaverse game with no problem. Any way I can get this to work, and save my 50k points I just earned?

A proclamation to all Heroes of the universe! Hraak-Riit, 4th son of the Patriarch, announces the expansion of the Kzinti Empire into this galaxy. We are pleased to scent hunting-grounds rich with...h'rrrrrr...."worthy prey". Those who possess the true warrior spirit of a t'kzintar may earn their names by joining us in felling all grass-eating ta'sskin beneath our slashing claws. With each new victory we will feast upon fresh vatach, and there will be numberless females to make ch'rowl with.

I don't know if the minor civs in my two games where they expanded did it by conquest or influence. I think there should be some mechanic in the game where a minor can beomce a major at some point. Sentient species taste better...</font

The 4x turn-based Birth of the Federation had permanent wormholes, and they worked quite well. I dont think it would mess up the path-finding too much as I've seen other games with teleport gates, such as Heroes of Might and Magic, where the AI was able to utilize them very effectively. I like the idea of having this feature, and also to enable/disable the option when you start a game and customize the galaxy.

How often have people seen minor races take other planets and start to expand? I've only seen it twice in all the games I played, and never more than one planet in addition to their homeword. Aside from the Jagged Knife type of events, has anybody seen a minor race expand into a reasonably-sized empire with mulitple planets?

Ah, I see...I think I'm too lazy to do that every single post. So I guess my suggestion for added features for the forums would include the ability to have a sig file of sorts, possibly with image(s). Thanks for the info!

1. I see many people with imbedded signatures on each of their posts. How is this done? 2. Similarly, how would an image be added so that it shows up on every post as well? I see people who have their empire's logo on every post. Thanks.

No cant say ive ever played nor heard of birth of a federation, though ive enjoyed a few trek games, most of them never were 'good enough' to keep my attention for too long before they got boreing. BotF is an older game, but defiinitely worth a look if you like Star Trek. It's a 4x turn-based game like GalCiv or Civilization, where you can play as Federation, Ferengi, Romulan, Klingon, or Cardassians. There are some really cool features, like a random

Kudos for coming up with a very unusual strategy. I cant see myself having much fun with it as it doesnt involve expansion and conquering other systems, but it is certainly different. On a side note, I don't think the "turtle" strategy sounds very Klingon-like, and the Klingon word can be spelled either Qa'plah or Qah'plah, I believe. I've intended to create a Klingon custom race, but havent go
