Thanks Highwater. It remains to be scene if the various other annoying problems have been solved or not, but this was biggie.

Thanks HighWater, this did the trick. It's a real mystery to me how a new install on a clean machine could get the wrong file download to it.
There seems to be whole host of bugs now. I did not play the game for about 6 months, and on return I find lots of problems. Fleets won't move correctly and game-play is generally sluggish. Saves and restores are a hit and miss proposition. I am running the latest version of Dark Avatar (1.80g.100), a brand new clean copy on a new computer that never had it installed before. This computer is is not the latest and greatest, but it is bigger, faster, and more up to date than the previous
I would pay money to get back to a stable game that actually runs correctly. I feel like the original investment in this game has now been a throwaway, and the current situation makes it unplayable for me.
I just reloaded Dark Avatar onto a new machine last week. I am getting the same path finding errors with fleets that are described in thie forum for 1.80e. This bug makes playing the game not an enjoyable experience. Does anyone know of a fix or if Stardock intends to resolve this? It appears to have been going on for a few months now....
