As a token of thanks, I was thinking of working on an update in my spare time after I turn in the book manuscript next month.
Wrong way around, it's actually us thanking you and your staff for providing such a great game ;)
Are there any small updates you guys would like to see in there?
Please add some AI fixes and improvements: * Some AIs not expanding * AIs not updating orders of ships en-route. Becomes obvious
Raknor
I am not human, I am Raknor. Describing my mysterious ways transcends the meaning of words.
There are two types of costs: Building upkeep and production. Building upkeep is obvious and does not need further explanation. There are three production categories: Military production, social production and research. A planet has a certain production capability and which percentage of this capability gets filled depends on how the sliders on the economy screen are set up and also to your planet's production focus. The important thing is that unused production
Animated parts and all?
Sadly no. My laptop cannot handle max details. :( Perhaps today on the big machine I can improve it further.
With Gibson one of his best stories (IMO) is Burning Chrome, which is a short story he published, i think, before Neuromancer.
They are both playing in the same universe. So if you liked Burning Chrome, you'll probably like Neuromancer as well.
For some reason in England, the word Sci fi makes people assume its some awful Flash Gordon style childrens book. I get some very weird look in book stores when i go to pay for a book , its almost as though they think i'm up to no good. I can almost hear them tut at me ("a grown man reading a childs book what next?")
Have you ever considered purchasing books sci-fi style? Going to the book store
While working on a new design in the shipyard, I've noticed that the ship seemed to be grinning. So I added some legs and done was the frog.
Praying to him won't help in non-SD matters.
That applies as well to every other religion, so that argument is quite weak ;)
All of the tweaks were done by Brad over Thanksgiving weekend, since he can't help but start tweaking stuff while he's playing.
His poor family. "Brad, the turkey is getting cold" "Not now honey, the Drengin just have invaded my homeworld" Keep up the great work ;)
I actually found Neuromancer to be a difficult read. I don't know if that's because of Gibson's writing style or because actual modern technology has diverged so far from what he envisioned.
A bit of both I think.
Heard an interesting comment regarding Neuromancer , though. Remember the first line of the book? "Thy sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel." Someo
I'm not really that into Star Trek anymore. I grew up watching it and I have shelves full of novels based on the various series (I remember thinking that Rules of Engagement by Peter Morwood was what Star Trek VI should have been), but the franchise has always been more about action than new ideas.
I can't help myself but to agree. Just seeing the few shots of the upcoming Star Trek movie makes me cry. Teenagers in space from the lo
Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space series, as mentioned, is really good. [...] However, bear in mind that his universe is a very dark and scary place.
If you want happy SciFi, read anything Star Trek. The federation is sickening good. :P
Sigh! The level of education these days (or is it just the individuals level of attentiveness?) is getting appalling.
I think they would find their education appealing ;)
:( A couple of hours ago, the 2.0 beta appeared on Impule on my slow old laptop. But as of know, it still doesn''t appear on my gaming rig. Same Impulse settings on both machines btw, so that's not the problem.
I hate this game as well. I barely get any sleep nowadays. Must... kill... Drengin....
I, along with up to 7% of your playerbase (I'm assuming the vast majority are males), am colourblind and I can't distinguish some of the races
I'd like that too. While not colourblind, I have a hard time distinguishing between Korx grey, Krynn gray and Iconian græy
Top 1: Good job on the AI in TA Brad. But, I still want an even better AI. I want an AI that can beat me on equal terms (Tough difficulty). A couple of things that need improvements: - Tech trading. In my current game (on Painful) the AI players value Basic Laser/Missile/Railgun techs extremely high, I got some really nice deals (mis)using them. - AI declares war too quickly, but while actually at war, the AI by far isn't aggressive enough. A proper war declaration starts with an invasio
Nice guide DivineWrath. A few more things to add: - 8B people now fit on a standard planet. Capitals still on 16B though. I think this change was intended to give the players more income, but it has the side effect of making the morale ability even more important imo. - AI-designed ships. In theory a nice idea. However I find the autogenerated to be of little use. If I'm Arcean, they usually have too much defense. With their super ability you want enough raw damage to
Clicking on Install aborts with "This program is not compatible with your current operating system." I'm using XP 64bit edition. TA installs and runs just fine using SDC.
Xeno Mysticism _still_ has no description. This has been reported before multiple times.
Stardock should be located in China, it's already evening there, game would be out by now ;)
From the interview:
In two years -- or less -- most new PCs will come with Stardock-developed technology and content.
Even more preloaded junk irrelevant for most users. No offense, but I strongly believe that a new computer should not contain any software at all (not even an operating system), it should be up to the user to decide what gets installed and not up to the hardware vendor and its sponsors. Every single time I buy a new, prebuilt PC, the firs
