Least Favorite : Korath As a race they exude cheese. Spore ships that insta-take undefended worlds and turn them toxic is just a lazy man's invasion. Playing them always felt like EZ-mode, and playing against them just means you gotta get everyone to take them out first...and talking other civ's into doing that early is no chore with the Korath's poor diplomacy. Story-wise they are just more Drengin than Drengin. They shouldn&#
However, I think there is a very weak point in it and that is the AI "thinks" in a very defensive way, it is focused on detecting danger and not on looking at the big picture how to win the game. To win, wars are necessary, even if your goal is for example an influence victory. My impression is that the AI doesn't understand this concept at all, it seems that at some point it decides "all seems well" and just limits itself to maintain its pl
I thought the conventional wisdom on the board was NOT to put the capital on the precursor tile, since it's the %age of what it was already being produced on that tile, and the capital produces no tp on its own. I think I remember hearing that putting a capital on a precuror tile gives no bonus at all. I have no idea why the summary show 738tp.
TA 2.02 I left the Major events on for the first time in a while, in my only second game as the Krynn. I got the "Peacekeeper" event, where there's a whole bunch of non-affiliated AI fleets of bad-@ss ships who hunt down military ships that are outside of their proper influence zones. I was mainly working against minor civs at that point, so most of my fleets were in my own zones. The rest were hustled back into my space (joy of being Krynn, having all
If I'm not mistaken, there are some tabs above where they show planetary improvements on the planet screen. They're labeled "Newest", "Oldest", and "All". Sounds like it's showing "Oldest". If you click the tab on "Newest" or "All", I think you should be fine.
I'm back. After taking two weeks off for the holidays, and the other six getting my butt kicked as the newfangled Thalians, I finally was able to post a victory tonight. Sure it was under 7,500 pts., since it was an alliance victory and took 13yrs., but a win's a win. It'll probably look better on AltMeta... Anyways, I finally earned my Racial Victory Medal. Yay me! [e digicons][/e] Let's go Geezers!
I think if you adjust the slider when you hit focus in the shipyard it'll fix that.
I would go the other way, and start with Twilight of the Arnor. I know that 2.0 will be a good sized change from TA 1.96, but the difference between DA and the current TA is dang near like playing a whole other game already. Me personally, once I went TA there was no going back. Of course I would go TA anyway since it is the first GC2 game where the different AI races really *felt* different from each other. How the DA AI races all played very sim
I've been wondering what I would be if I was an American. In Blighty I'm a pretty straight down the line Tory. And what with the US being the superpower it is I'm exposed to quiet a lot of US political stuff. I know that my views translate pretty neatly into the republican party, since I agree with them about 100% on foreign policy, economic policy and largely on domestic policy. There are however a few differences. I while I agree on Nuclea
IDK, this guy seems to be having fun with them . [e digicons]:)[/e]
In my last two metaverse games I saw something I never remembered seeing in DA. The Iconians managed to get all the races besides me allied with them while I was fighting two or three empires at a time. What happened to the DA Iconians, the speed bump race that took all the planets I can't colonize and then get overran by a couple of AIs that are consolidating their territory only to surrender to one of the other good races or occassionally me? I used to only hafta worry ab
It's been a while, but IIRC, you need at least one constructor for each level of development and 10 turns to activate. Noctilucus is right, it only goes one parsec/turn and destroys stars, not planets. Of course, the supernova'd star takes out the planets and the old asteroid fields, turning what used to be planets into asteroid fields. I don't know what it does to fleets, since I never attacked anyone with the one I built. I just used mine to make asteroid fields and clean the map a
Dear Penthouse, I never thought this could happen to me. I just started a new game and in the next system over I found two hot sister planets... Sorry about that, don't know where that came from. Anyway, I just fired up a new TA game (Tough, medium galaxy, 9 opps, uncommon everything but rare anomalies, tight clusters) as the Terrans to test the my editing of the opponent AIs (all but the Korx and Drath) who I tried to toughen up and give better gov't. Serious
Hmmm... I got through it with the constructor theory on the first time. Guess I got lucky. What happened? Constructors got destroyed? Ship got caught? IIRC, the trick for me was going NOT going the direct route. IIRC I went on a route that didn't go near stars, and I started going that way early before anyone had a chance to build up. Mostly I think it's about avoiding being detected. The DL doesn't send out a ton of scouts, so if you can avoid populated areas and babysi

10. Master of Orion II * Microprose (PC) GalCiv2 will probably pass this once I get the new econ down and parameters figured out. Until then, it'll hafta sit at #11 behind a PC game I've been playing for over a decade. The biggest complaint I had about GC2 was that the races didn't seem different enough. In MOO2, you felt the difference between about half a dozen of them. 9. Street Fighter II [series] * Capcom (Arcade) 8. We Simple yet ad
Playing through my first Immense game as the Terrans. I'm about 4yrs in, and it's going well. Got the U.P. to vote me the prison and then got the Pirate Jailbreak event. Outside the orbit of one of my planets I found 3 pirate "fleets" of one ship each. One was a Drath looking heavy fighter. The other two were "Frigates" that looked like... well... Pirate ships with masts and sails. Awesome. Love it. Kudos to the art department. Wher
Just a small bug, but the attacking force's bar doesn't go down with combat losses like the defending force's Bar does in Twilight of the Arnor, 1.91.
I'm a newbie with questions. 1. Why are my games taking so long. 8 game years on a large map for a political victory. Am I just not very good? Underaggressive? Or do I need to play on a smaller map? 2. Is there a place where the medals we are awarded are explained? Wounded in action? Racial victory? I'm sure I'll think of others.
