I think Galactic Civilizations 2 indeed is a very good game, but it is missing in two important factors: * Pace * Atmosphere * PACE Even with the generous options available, there is no way to avoid that the early game becomes a mad rush for colonies. This is very unrealistic, boring and stressful and here is how I would have prefered it: Let the game start, not with hyperdrive technology but ca 1950. Turns will be faster h

Would it be possible to add an option to change the amount of money you start your game with? I find it incredibly odd with a game as customizable as GC2 to not have any control over this!?! I would have liked if I could change it so all civs start with 0 money to make the initial game slower and less a rush for planets.

PLEASE Stardock, can you add the option to adjust starting money and starting ships for all civilizations? [e digicons]:'([/e]

[e digicons]>:([/e] I thought I had found a way around it using the scenario editor (where you could set starting money to 0 and ships costs to "very high") but when I try to start the scenario, it crashes!!

Well, the tech advancement pace is ok at "Very slow". It is just the starting money and starting ships I want to change. I hate that the AI buys several colony ships right off the bat, making the early game a hectic colony rush, instead of a slow, epic, gradually evolvolving game. In Civ 4 for example, you start with no city, one settler, one warrior and no money. In Gal Civ 2 I wish it would have been no start money, and only a scout available. I also dislike that you get a space miner

Really silly to have something like that hard-coded. The 3000 BC means that you are supposed to buy a lot of ships directly to keep up with the AI. This combined with 3 expensive ships from the very beginning means that is impossible to get a really slow, epic game... [e digicons]>:([/e]

Also, is it possible to change what ships each civ starts with? I would have prefered if everyone just started with a single scout...

Hi! I doesn´t like that all civs start with so much money. I would have prefered just a small amount (say 100 bc). Anyone know which file to check to adjust this? I have looked in the "English" files in the "Twilight"/"Data"-folders but haven´t found it yet...

I would have wanted a more realistic Galactic Civilizations. If you play Civilization 4, the game is filled with history. The game and the Civilopedia is one long history lesson. But GalCiv 2 feels like a Civ-game in space. Where is the astronomy? The wonder of space? The concept of huge distances? The game should be filled with realistic astronomy and physical constraints. Fun, realistic and educative...

I think the scope of the game and tech tree should be extended backwards. The first steps should be the ones mankind did in the mid 20th century: satellites, probes, travel to moon. The first steps of a civ in the game should be the exploration and colonization of the moons, planets and asteroids of their own solar system. Also, Gal Civ 3 could use some Spore with randomly generated lifeforms on planets with effects on the colonization and economy of said planets.

Would it be possible to release Twilight of Arnor or at least the Ultimate Bundle in Europe this time? I think we would like to enjoy Gal Civ 2 in all it´s glory here as well!

Why haven´t Dark Avatar or the Gold Edition been released in Sweden? It is September now, and I still haven´t seen them in stores.

I wish that the game would be a cross between Civilization, Rome Total War and Heroes of Might and Magic 3. The tactical battle could be in 3D (as in Total War), but will allow spell casting as in Heroes. I also wish there was a huge technology tree. As you advance in the technology tree, your units/heroes gain new skills and abilities (like the secondary skills in Heroes 3). The technologies also enable you to learn more and more advanced magic. Depending on which magic technologies you researc

Well, I see your point and understand it from a pure business perspective. But it feels cynical and dishonest. Either you don´t mention reviews at all, or you take ALL reviews into account, good and bad. Why don´t they (Stardock) instead just link to the Game Rankings site for GalCiv2 DA so gamers can check out for themselves without being manipulated? By the way, the expansion has an impressive 92,6% ranking at that site, making it nr 23rd highest ranking PC game of all time. http://w

"Perhaps those "Stardock-guys" you speak of are not neggative flame-rompers that thrive on anger and opressing people who are making an obvious effort to revolutionize gaming from a different perspective than your attention demanding ego-mania complex; where examples such as your entire post and this portion of my own is your only source of sattisfaction. Go home and rethink your life." I like Galactic Civilizations, and I DO think it deserves praise. What I dislike is uncritic

It´s interesting that you Stardock-guys only mention and links to the most positive reviews on your website! I don´t doubt that Dark Avatar is great, but please, be honest! Game Zone has given it 8.5/10, and Strategy Informer 8/10, still very impressive scores, but you fail to mention it here. Maybe you don´t think they are as "wonderful folks" as those that give you raving reviews?

I posted about this in the "Game ideas" forum, but there seems to be so little activity there, it might be better here. I wished that the Galactic Civilizations-series would include planets and moons with many sorts of alien life-form that live on the different planets, depending on the environment of that planet. The creatures may be used as resources like in Civ 4, but may also be dangerous (like in Starship Troopers or Rancor in Star Wars)- Creatures are created randomly (but accordi

I have yet only played Gal Civ 1, but I wish the following things should be included in a Gal Civ 3: * A 3D-model of planets where you can zoom into the planet surface itself. * Planets will have many sorts of alien life-form that live on the different planets, depending on the environment of that planet (able to be seen in the zoomed in view mentioned above). The creatures may be used as resources like in Civ 4, but may also be dangerous (like in Starship Troopers or Rancor in

Ok, thanks for the replies! Is the leaders animated according to their mood like in Civ 4? For example, do they smile when they like you and look furious when they hate you now? About sounds, I know they didn´t actually speak in Gal Civ 1, but they had some "alien sounds" characteristic for them. For example, the Torians sounded a bit like whales. So does Gal Civ 2 have lots of

Hi! I bought Galactic Civilizations 1 last summer. I also tried a demo for Gal Civ 2. While the game indeed looked a lot better with the new 3D graphics, I was also disappointed in some minor flavor/descriptive changes for the worse. For example: * The great cutscenes from the first game were either missing or just re-used * The leaders in the diplomacy screen were no longer animated and are now silent * New technologies, buildings and units did not have any Ci
