The way to use Super Manipulator is fun. Here's how. Don't use it immediatly. Wait until the game gets going, when other races have built a powerful military. Also, build up your economy, influence, and make sure you maintain a small to medium-sized military. When someone declares war on you, get at least three people against them (More depending on their strength). Preferably people with medium-sized armies. If you can divert them from your empire, you can overrun their defen
Minor Race
I can't actually build anything on my colonized 50% production planets. It just says 'Never' for everything. Is this normal?
The only mega event I dislike is the pirate one. I think the pirates are overpowered, and if they are pirates, they should act like pirates. (Avoiding major power ships, going for freighters and starbases only). Or, they should be swapped out for an 'Aliens from Another Galaxy are Invading' event.
Uh, Brad? Where is the Altarian Prophecy and Prelude to War? The two GalCiv 1 campaigns? When did they take place? So the Korath, Krynn, and the Dark Avatar wasn't part of the manuscripts, but were added in afterwards? Interesting. Will GalCiv III be the last GalCiv game?
When you set the number of minor races, how are they chosen? Is it a random selection?
I'll join the Hegemony gladly, though I'm a bit new.
Not really sure. I haven't played with them enough times- spent my time on a bunch of Gigantic maps using custom races. If I based it on Super Ability, the Drath. Super Manipulator can cause complete chaos if necessary. Currently, I'm playing as the Thalans. I like them, and I think I'd vote for them.
Me. I didn't conquer anyone at all. I got to friendly rather quickly, getting to close is what is difficult. Trade, Economic/Research Treaties both help. I usually trade them technologies, but you need tech trading on to do this one. I've found that it is harder to go from Friendly to Close then any other relations evolution.
If you were preparing for war with your enemy, you could set a planet to make, say, ten cruisers and have another planet make four transports. That would streamline the game and make it go quicker. Maybe... what if queuing up ships shortens the build time? If a starport produces, say, a freighter, and is scheduled to make four, the starport will already be producing parts for a freighter. Ten percent of the total turns would be taken off of the time to build. For example, the freighter
Oh... okay. Was there a reason for this? The campaign was pretty easy, but I remember in DL after I beat the campaign, I went back and forfeited every time, getting the alternative mission just to see what they were. I don't know, it made the campaign feel longer.
Yes, you can say an entire race is evil. The Drengin Empire, the Korath Clan are very very evil. The latter more so then the former. There are degrees of evil and good. The Korath are evil to the extreme. They desire extermination of all life besides them. The Drengin simply desire dominance over all life. But both are evil. The Altarians are good to the extreme, while the Terrans are more in the middle. There are races who are to one extreme or the other.
Since the module is supposed to be converting the ship it's attached to into construction materials (hence why the ship disappears) that wouldn't make any sense. Huh? The construction module is an 'arm' of sorts that extends from the ship holding construction materials. How does that convert the 'whole' ship into construction materials? I think that either the module should be changed (it gives the impression of a reusable cargo truck) or constructors s
Well. Let's see here. I totally agree with the part about knowing the issue and being able to see which way the AI was leaning towards an issue. I don't like trading the vote. In my opinion, trading IP works fine if you know the issue beforehand. Maybe, though, a Super Manipulator or Super Diplomat could be able to 'suggest' that the Drengin (to use your example) change the vote to yes. The Manipulators manipulate people to do things for them (declare war) Why not UP? And a dip
Usually, when I run into the Dread Lords in GalCivII Dread Lords Campaign, I went to see if there was an alternative mission. When there wasn't, I fought them to the full. So why are there no alternative missions in Dark Avatar, as far as I can tell? A bunch of missions could easily have alternative. In specific, the fifth mission where you have to take the Dread Lord world Dithir to use their communications relay. Couldn't you do something similar to 'The Death of the Korx' mission, h
also what about the timing between mega events? last night I had the pirates mega event and was slowly working on it and then the Jagged Knife butted in with thier mega event and messed everything up. Apparently, the Jagged Knife event is not mega. That's what everyone else said.
The pirates should be able to gain BC from destroying freighters and starbases. Their ships should be one weapon level below the most advanced player. For instance, if you are using Disrupter weapons, the pirates have phasors. If you are using Harpoons, the pirates have stingers. Because of that, they should be coded not to form fleets and to avoid warships from a major civ, only going for Cargo-hulls and starbases. They should be able to do something with the money, too...
I created a custom starship with an attack of 42 (beam). It opened fire with around 27/75 hitpoints left. The defending Yor Frigate was destroyed, but had a chance to return fire. My ship was reduced to 1 hitpoint. When I went back to the main map, the ship had full hitpoints. What's going on here?
I'd want more custom evil weapons and more custom good weapons (Telepathic Defense, Psionic Beam, ect.) Also, I'd want a better Super Dominator effect.
Thanks for the compliments. Next one is coming.... now. January 2, 2226 (Terran Standard). Drengin Command Center in the capital of Caph I, former Drath world. Lord Naosk stood, rising from his throne-like chair. The doors to the inner control room opened and Carkon o'Vrask, warlord of the Ornak clan, strode through, escorted by guards. The two Drengin soldiers had plasma rifles strapped over their shoulders and were carrying ceremonial spears. "Ah, Naosk. I will be ta
If you have a way to improve starbases, post it here. I've come up with the following ideas, but there are many ways to make starbases better. If you have one, or several, just say it here. The first is what happens when you are done with the starbase. After an Influence base conquers everything in it's radius, what then? What about when fighting draws away from a military starbase? Some people say that starbases should be able to be 'towed' by other ships. That is a good idea, but ther
Yeah, I was playing as a Super Manipulator custom race and trying to take down the Yor. My military was hopeless- they were strongest and controlled much of the galaxy. So, I was trying to culturally conquer them and at the same time get the other empires to wipe out these guys. Their relations went from Neutral to Close in about 20 turns!
I always thought of "resources" as something that comes from asteroids. But now we have asteroids and they give industrial points. So where exactly do these resources come from? I'd like to know. It was mentioned elsewhere- they are artifacts from the Precursors, like everything else. I assume that the visible object (cylinder, sphere, cube, ect.) is a container holding the resource. As to what each resource is, it's in the DL Manual. Aside fr
Yes, I've finished it. There are at least five Dread lord missions- possibly six. I'm not sure, two of them I beat without bothering to fight Dread Lords. No. There is only one other mission where you have to wipe out the Dread Lords. And in that mission you get help- the Yor, Thalans, Arceans, and Iconians are all playing, with the Yor your teammate. The Korath are also your enemy. That's the final mission, Dark Apocalypse.
Okay. But does that show up in combat? You don't actually see a small fleet of starfighters shooting at nearby ships, do you?
Well, the mega event happened where a race gets +1 in each ability every turn, or something like that. Is that the one where the race finds a precursor artifact and will eventually become godlike? Yes, it is.
