Played Yor on large, masochistic, 4 AIs, stars scattered, no cheats and completed a cultural victory. But it was a strange experience. About halfway through the game it seemed almost as if the AI had stopped functioning. I had managed to colonise planets around the Drengin, Drath, Krox and Torians and after that I didnt have to do anything except keep on expanding to cover all space. Didnt even bother developing any weapons and defenses. Seemed very unnatural. The game

Oh. I didnt know about that. Does it merely allocate planets equally or is there some random distribution? Must try it out sometime. When does one use Ctrl+L? After starting game and getting to the first screen?

I agree. However my idea behind the suggestion is to have an altogether different game where no civ is into colony rush . Dont know if its do-able. Maybe there could be a campaign built like that.

I am a relative newbie. Just won my first tech victory at masochist level on large playing korath. I was about to start up another game when I had this sense of lethargy at the thought that I have to again go through this colony rush business. So here is a suggestion for developers. Can we have a game option which provides a completely different starting point where all the civs have already populated most of the worlds? If someone starts with say 5 civs then each one civ occup

Been reading this thread with much interest. Here is a suggestion. Since the concern is that AI gets an 'advantage' with every restart, would it be possible to balance this by giving the player a similar advantage? In other words the player will start with one basic factory in place. With every retart the player will have completed one turn. From a programing perspective this may be easier to implement, especially the first time start up. Adding a turn to player at each restar

Have been playing for a while on a laptop (Dell) with Vista and 7800 Go. Installed the 158.18 nVidia driver (used modified inf file). Playing like a dream. Having a real blast with the game.

Hi, Am a newbie who has just finished a game (medium, normal). I went for Tech victory but its quite a grind. I could have actually pretty much wiped out everyone else much earlier but decided to go for Tech. So my question for experienced players is this. Does it happen that you are in a position to complete Tech vistory and not be in a position much earlier to claim one of the other (usually Conquest) victories? In other words is Tech vistory always a grind?
