Alright I changed it, so how long will it take before your previous posts also display your new nickname instead of the old one?

Ok thanks.
Prehistory: Since the dawn of mankind we have always looked at the stars in wonder and awe. Throughout the ages, the stars were charted and catalogued, and various intellectuals from every corner of the world dreamt up of massive space colonies and large massive space empires. It wasn't until the 20th and 21st centuries that humans actually had the capability of going beyond Earth's atmosphere and into space. And even then, it wasn't easy. Early flights into space were
A while ago I actually did write one AAR that I didn't finish, due to time constraints, college, etc. That game happened a long time ago anyway, before I even got the expansion pack, so I'm just going to let it go. I will write it in the same format as that AAR was written in though, since I'm good at writing things from an academic standpoint. I'm not too good at portraying feelings, emotions and whatnot. Well, with that out of the way I will begin this one. I'm actually still playi
Is there any way to change your screenname/handle/etc....? I want to change the screenname that I currently use to logon to the forums please.
Alright, this is a new gameplay example. I got bored of my other one and I played that one so long ago I don't remember all the details. Plus, its really long. So, I'm going to do a new one. I don't have DA yet, so this is on DL. This gameplay example will be written as I am playing it, so that you can see first hand my strategies. Also, this story will be told entirely in a first person point of view, the view of the leader. Now that is out of the way, I will now begin...<br
Sorry that I haven't been writing this, I had other priorities.... Well anyway, time to continue this long, long story. Part 6 Galactic War I: Part 1 Galactic War I was one of the most destructive wars in human history, and in galactic history for that matter. This war featured some of the bloodiest battles in human history, as well as the first time weapons of mass-destruction were used on a massive scale. It is estimated that over 300 billio
What I would like to see in the next Galciv game is: 1) Permanent Wormholes. There should be some of these, and if your technologically advanced enough, the ability to create them. They could be treated and owned like a strategic resource, since they give the ability to instantly travel anywhere in the galaxy. Also, they could be very crucial in the ability to wage war. 2) A better planetary combat system and scenario. Lets face it, thought the ship battles are alright, p
Thanks for the info
How do you post screenshots of your game on this site? In fact, how do you make screenshots from the game?
Here is the long awaited Part 5..... Part 5: Galactic Tensions and beginnings of Galactic War I Here were the start of the Dark Ages of the Union of Solar Republics. A major event had occured and there was a large decrease in interest of alien cultures, meaning that there was Xenophobia for some reason. 3 of our trade routes have been destroyed during the Human-Yor war, and our economy was reeling a bit. Topalov, once our prime industrial world, had been lost
To answer your questions Arilias: 1. sorry for the mistake, I just wasn't sure how to spell Arceans. 2. Volumes I and II were history books that predated the third volume. Actually, I probably should have went with Edition I and II, that is more accurate. 3. You will find out in the 6th and 7th installments. I have estimated that there will be 9-10 in all (up from the previous 6). And now, to the 4th part..... Part 4: Diplomatic Tensions
It is now September 2227 and the Acreans and the Drath are engaged in a full scale war. Our surveillance units in the area are keeping watch on the battles. The Drath seem to have the upper hand, as the Acreans have lost a world so far and appeared to be on the defensive. However, our military experts say that this advantage may be short lived, because their frigates are beginning to win more battles. Also, they have more ships, so they should be able to turn the tide. In the meantime,
To answer your questions MoonColony13: Pretty much, any country that resisted the unified government was violently dealt with. The ones that were opposed to it were some countries in Central Africa, Central America, some Eastern Europe countries and of course North Korea. As for religion, even though there were some radicals that didn't like the idea of extra-terrestrial life, for the most part they cooperated in the formation of the USR and the vast majority of them welcomed the i
Part I: Exploration and Colonization In the beginning of 2225, the Union of Solar Republics launched its first ever interstellar colony ship and survey ship, which is dubbed the SRS Columbus. This was part of the massive colonization program to take as many worlds in the galaxy as possible. The Pan-Asian Protectorate, which was formally the PRC, soon became the Earth's Industrial Park. They were expected to crank out one colony ship every four weeks. The fir
I'll submit my so-called Gameplay Example. I am the humans in this game. I hope you enjoy. NOTE: This is on the first Galciv 2, not played on DA. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Game Settings: Galaxy Size: Gigantic Number of Races: 9 Difficulty: Tough # of Star systems: Abundant # of Habitable planets: Common Race: Human Setting: Normal -------------------------------------------------------
I usually like to focus on other things than military too, like research and economy. I find that having at least a standing army that is somewhat "modernized" compared to the other races is enough to keep you safe for the most part. They will only go after you if you are weak militarily, so try to maintain one that is at least average. Like all the rest, I try to maintain a mobile defense with large numbers of small to medium sized ships. You don't need to go overboard with
thanks for your help guys . Oh, and just ignore Wheeloffire. My first and primary language is Spanish in any case.
I'm just wondering about the function of spys and how they work. In addition to shutting down various improvements and gathering information, can they also commit acts of sabatage and instigate rebellions? Also, can they be used to help aid in corruption so that they may not get as much money as they like, or even divert some of its funds to your treasury?
How many copies of Galactic Civilizations 1, 2 and Dark Avatar have been sold to date???
The biggest one I ever created was what I called the "Emperor's Ship". It was a little reminicent of the Borg Cube, except a little more rounded. It was used toward the end of a recent game I just played when I was invading the homeworld of my enemy. It was powerful enough to take on an entire fleet, regardless of the size of the ships. Unfortunently, it was so expensive that I could only make and maintain one of those, but it served as the pride of my fleet <img src="http://images.stardock.com
So, what is the biggest ship you have ever created on Gal-Civ and what can/could it do?
"every time i have tried to play Dreadlords on parade, they get creamed by the AI. Especially since i am not allowed to reduce the number of AI players, which is a shame." Yeah, I had that experience the first time too. But this game they seem to be incredible. It seems to me that map size and/or amount of world available has a huge impact on their strength. I'm playing this on Gigantic with a huge number of habitable worlds available and so they ended up having a large number of worlds
Thanks for the tips guys. Oh, and the reason I decided to attack the Yor was that at the time, the Dread Lords were focused on wiping out both the Drengin and the Altarians (They were successful), and I thought I should have enough time to conquer them. Oh well, I'm done conquering the Yor at this point anyway and I only lost 4 worlds out of 44 (29 plus 15 that I have gained from the former Yor Collective) to the Dread Lords. I've never seen so many ships come at me like this before, its like th
Like all of you guys, I never really use any of the tiny hulls. However, I do use small hulls to make "artillery cannons" or defense batteries. What I do is that I just pack them with weapons and nothing else, and station them in orbit around planets and around military starbases. They are also good for making kamikazees when your at the losing end of a war. Miniturization helps make them more effective for those roles. For invasions, I usually use medium to large hulls, but sometimes I'll throw
