I always imagine it as them translating the texts contained within their Precursor Archives/Libraries. Who needs research when you have all the knowledge of the universe at your fingertips? You just have to learn how to read it. Of course, much of the Knowledge contained within those Archives was lost, but the point remains.
Aye, I took it that the tech they start off with they were shown how to make. However they are incapable of making something better without
It's horridly time intensive though. I was totally ignoring any sort of score upon winning in this game. A) I was just worrying about testing the Iconians and B) I wanted to blow everything up with the TS. This game just may end with 1 system remaining, a planet of mine and another race...and blowing it up....just to see what the victory/loss condition will say. If I remember I just said that, I'll repost it in here.
[img]http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg274/loupdinou

Any race currently released in the Beta for ToA has had it. Does that mean SD may remove that tech tree from a race not yet released...I'm unsure. The AoE is about 3 or 4 parsecs. About the range that all the planets in the system are. Any...ANY other ships/asteroids/bases will be decimated. The TS will remain, the planets will turn into asteroids. It has to be comical in my game when the TS reaches the adjacent parsec from the star as any escort ship that was pacifying the planet'
I've always wondered about Diplomatic victories when I win by exterminating everyone but my traditional allies, the Yor. Technically, both my custom race and the Yor would win a diplomatic victory, as we are both allied with all remaining races, right?
Aye...in fact the description for a diplomatic victory on the victory tab says something along the lines of "...or destroy any who aren't in your club". As long as you are allied with all remaining races in the game, you w
You'd be surprised how stable the beta is, in a running total of of about 22 hours of playing TA, I've had one crash. ... which reminds me I found a typo ...
I'll back this guy up here. With the exception of typos and filler text not being...umm...filled, I haven't had many game-ending bugs in ToA beta. OK, well, in the first release of beta 3 the terror stars blowing up a habitable planet in the wake created a CTD, I think one of the beta 2's creating
It only takes just six constructors to make a terror star? Thats pretty cheap to wipe out a system. As far as the dread lords Usally I let them cook for a few turns to build dom infrastructer to take over. a move of 1 is pretty useless. I player should be able in the time it takes to take one out. Oh btw are eyes of the universe still a wonder that can be built by any race? Duh
Yes, 1 constructor to start the starbase, 5 more to complete 20%

Well, I just saw that the Torians have completed a Terror Star...and it's deep within my territory. It hasn't moved since I noticed it, but I have a fast response ship located w/in strike range if it dares move w/in 2 parsecs of any of my stars. Also not in the news is the Dregin have been turned to space dust. Their last system went away in a boom. I say "not in the news" since the mini-movie of a race being killed off never played and no notification that the Dregin went the way of

Oh yeah...just found another thing that should be looked into. Committing genocide with a Terror Star doesn't invoke the movie of a race being killed off. ~whistles as he walks away from the vaporized Dregin planets~ Can't prove I did it...it woulda been on GNN! What? That Terror Star? Naw...um, he's just out to pick up bread and milk. Next milestone is to create a scenario that the only colonized system remaining in the game holds one of my planets and another...and blow

Resource mining techs are a known issue and they are working on it. Others include any module on starbases linked to techs. Due to individual tech trees, balance based on Super Ability is no longer an issue (beta for DA woulda been the time). Now you have to look beyond the Super Ability and into the unique techs the races also get/don't get.
Fleets attacking single ships still loose too many movement points. Still exists in 3b, unless I'm just in dire need of a new game to clear old bugs out... What ships are in the fleets? Any speed-enhancing modules? Please give steps to reproduce this problem, or, if possible, please email a zipped saved game that demonstrates the problem to gc2bugs@stardo
Slave Pits...they are destroyed. Now I have to think "should I work on trading/stealing techs before I got and steamroll these planets?" is this true?
Any destructible building that you don't have the tech for should be destroyed upon invasion.

9 Replies 3,234 Views
Okay, the keeping makes sense. However, if I can build these buildings because I have the tech, why shouldn't I build them without conquering the other race.
He meant that if you had invaded that race w/o the tech, the building linked to that tech would be auto-destroyed.

Dread Lords: All races nearly the same, just a few racial ability differences between them. Dark Avatar: Super Abilities introduced. Now you had more riding on what race you picked (or Custom Race's Super Ability). Twilight of the Arnor: ~blinks~ Ok, if I decide to switch from the Terrans to the Dregin, it seems I have to completely re-learn the game as nearly every building I had with the Terran's doesn't exist in the Dregin tech tree. If I take over a Dregin planet as t
My planetary expenses are usually quite high (for all of them), so combined I don't see how I could be saving any credits. ("be in the green")...yet I am.
There is planetary income, tourism (area of influence) income, trade income, treaty income & any UP vote homage (other's starbases/planets in your influence area) income. Your tourism income is what is bringing you into the green most likely.
Sounds good, though i question whether in ToA there will be an over-reliance on Terror Stars. They sound a bit too powerful right now and i doubt massing Constructors every game will be overly fun...
I think they are plenty balanced. They move 1 parsec a week, nothing can increase this. They have no ship-to-ship weapons/defenses so a tiny 1 attack ship can take one out. Also, the 10 week mobilization time gives someone plenty of time to get an attack force around.
You get a 20% morale bonus for the counter espionage center. Early game that isn't bad at all. Even late game it's not horrible given the other benefit.
That build-time/cost though has to be horrid that early in the game. Anywho...some races in ToA start off with some decent morale buildings.

Will this mean that Super Diplomat will only affect Diplomacy and the super ability for the Kyrnn will be one more suited to Influence? I'm not sure if I noticed the change this week in my Iconian game, but I had no problem pushing the Terran influence line back.

Let me start of in saying that I'm sorry for lack of pictures and even a lot of detail accounts as I hadn't planned on making this game into an AAR and am not at the computer that even holds the game. Build: ToA Beta3a Race: Iconians Difficulty: Normal (just testing the Beta) Map: Large All set to abundant, tech trading on, no minor civs. I was located in the top corner of the galaxy, terrans to my left, dregin to my right. The Yor were in the bottom corner, ar

As a followup to your comments, if the Yor don't get the advanced governments due to being "one" with each other, shouldn't the Yor also be immune to the UP vote that forces races to follow a certain type of government?
