I can't wait for the fantasy feast to begin! [e digicons]:P[/e] Hope we can get some first teasing news about it soon! But how do I get through Christmas this year still waiting for Santa in January ... [e digicons]^_^[/e]

After some quick playing around: the graphics are even better: big applause for that. Very dissappointing though is the spy update, which was proclaimed to be a major update. The new thing: you can place spies on a civ in general. But think about the following: - is it not even more expensive (and less effective) with spies now that you need spies both for civs and planets!? - I do not like the fact that you can scroll around and see all planets and their tiles o

It is surprising that the map editor doesn't seem to be tailored to handle the same custom races that you have created and use for your other games. After having played the standard races you naturally want to diversify. While I loved the TA expansion overall, the editors were a big disappointment for me - not user friendly, no custom races and repeated problems with various crashes. It still feels like it's a beta, months after the offical release of the expansion.

Everything worked smoothly (especially my Thalan empire expansion ...) until the game started to crash repeatedly. Some rounds later a good number of ships had turned invisible, and worse, could not be moved. It would be a pity not to finish the fun game. The bug report is below, is it the game or some modding-related business? Thanks for any advice. Reply to Map Editor in Modding

Yes, I have the same question. I find it somewhat surprising that the editors, which are part of the official game now, seem to come with no instructions whatsoever. Half of the parameters you can change around are absolutely not self-explanatory. The real added-value of an editor should be that it lets any player customize the game - not just a super-modder with too much time on their hands in the real world. ;) I was also wondering if it is not possible to include several cus

As Sci-Fi do I have to mention Foundation by Asimov? (slow, but really good ...) Another classic: the Great Dune trilogy! Ender's Game is top! Not space opera but a good read anyway is Contact by Carl Sagan. I'm reading Hyperion just now, and it sure starts out in the right direction! Real space opera (à la Star Wars) is the Star of the Guardian series by Margaret Weis (who co-wrote Dragonlance) but unfortunately it is far inferior to her Dragonlance
The fact that - IIRC - they only have 9? on the dev team, its a stunning achievement that they shove out what they do .... mind blowing frankly.
Only 9!? Yes, that is indeed stunning, and they must be both busy and efficient ... But I had understood that the fantasy-game is in the making since some time now (some art works have been shown a few months ago) and that SD in any case is also going to work on other games like Political Machine and Demigod. So it's not about ru

Yeah, I really would like at least some news about the 4x fantasy strategy game. But a release Winter 09, that is just too far away ... With the experience SD has on GCII and TA it shouldn't be an impossible task to do a fantasy-based strategy game in a reasonable timeframe, at least to open the beta very soon. There is no game like it on the market and everyone seems to be waiting for it so I do hope it gets some priority very soon! The problem with Dom3 is that is just too ugly, and the set-
And the voice-overs are actually wonderful: if someone skips them it's their loss! Also, the quest content is sooo much better than WoW. The problem is that they stop as soon as you get out of the newbie-zone (Tortage). After that, you're stuck trying to read eye-bleeding white subtitles on bright backgrounds, or just jamming option 1 without reading.
yes, but fortunately they are apparently adding voices to the quests from level 20 to like 30 or 40 as

Why, did someone have a bad day or what!? :) I can't agree to much of what is said here. In fact, AoC is like a revelation sent from above after too many years grinding on WoW. There are several reasons. Most of all, the combat system: it is new, takes the standard further and actually makes it fun to do battle - also without any magic. Only for this the game is in a higher league than the old MMOs. The sounds and special effects (hmm, some blood ...) only adds to it. Secondly

I have some problems with the ToTA map editor. When starting a new game based on the custom map the game crashes when launched, it seems to happen only when some races are included (and ships are included on the map, it works when only playing with humans and drengin ...).

The only pity with the Political Machine is that it seems to end where it should really have started: when you become President. It would have been so cool to play one of the major powers in today's world and create an alternative history/future! There was a recent try for such a game (Mission President, I think) but unfortunately it got bashed in the reviews as crap not living up to the good idea. The Political Machine also seems completely US centric. Personally I find foreign policy conflict

Keep up the good work guys! Can't wait for the espionnage update. For the future what excites me the most is the new Fantasy strategy game, which could be even cooler than Galciv if you play your cards right. Can't wait for some info on the Fantasy game, and for the official beta to be released so that I can buy it immediately.

Best of luck to Demigod! I have nothing against it as such, but ... What does it mean for the turnbased games, the fantasy game??! I became hooked on Stardock thanks to the brilliant GC2 ... then Sins was released while the TA release was pushed back at the same time (was that why?) - we are still waiting and drooling BTW, and now it is Demigod that should change the gaming industry. I just hope that Stardock hasn't veered off in another direction after the apparent commercial success with Sins.

The biggest announcement would be that Stardock secretly has developed the full fantasy game and will release it imminently! Well, if I wasn't a dreamer, why would I continue playing these games ...
It should be noted that gun powder weapons took some time to make castles and knights completely obsolete. ...
Notwithstanding the historical argumentation against gunpowder weapons I gave above it is of course finally a question of personal taste if you like them in a fantasy game or not. Still, I would like to develop the “theoretical” argumentation behind my view on the subject a little further. In addition to the issue of “anachronism”, it is also a question

I am really looking forward to the Stardock fantasy game (especially after seeing what TA starts to look like) , but I haven’t seen Stardock having any real consultation about its content on the forums lately. In order not to miss the chance to give my two eurocents on the subject before the game is already pretty frozen I couldn’t resist posting the below. <span sty

Thank you Stardock for this expansion that blows all our expectations away! The tech trees really make every civ unique, and even better is that it is possible for the players to adapt the techs, maps and scenarios. I can only say one thing: if you continue like this the new fantasy game must be the best game ever in the genre!!! I just can't wait ...
that's my one worry so far. creating and saving my races in DA was the only thing that kept me playing after a while. i just hope the editors will be easy enough to use that this is still viable.
Yes I must agree: the tech trees are really cool, but I really hope that this will not mean that the flexibility in making your own races and civs will be suffering. Will we be able to custom-make our own tech trees for our own races

Cool! The Iconians have always been my favorite alien race among the ones included in the game, and now they just got so much cooler with all these details! I hope that they will be and feel really different in the game - different but powerful if messed with! Keep up the good work at Stardock, this expansion is revolutionising the game once again!
Your improvements look really cool outside the game. It's a shame they're so small in the actual game though, so you don't get to see as much detail as you see here. Maybe you could implement something like a 'more info' button for improvement types. When you click it it pops up the larger picture with the description. Total fluff but I think it would be cool.
I totally agree on the improvements. they look really cool on the websi

Get it right, in January if necessary. But what I am desperately waiting for in the betas is the option to custom-make your own civs and maps. Couldnt that be done following the original December schedule (even if in a limited version maybe lacking the last tech trees)?

I can't wait for this game, and for some more news about it! A fantasy turn-based strategy game of quality is really what is missing out on the market since a long time. In case Stardock is interested in some inputs from their latest fans: - the feeling of the graphics needs to be different from sci-fi DA (more lush) Please note that in fantasy, the feeling (the willing suspension of disbelief) is what makes it break or sell platina! - instead of technology: please make a huge
