Cari, I downloaded and installed 1.8g, and the only difference it made on my system was that the initial menu took 3X longer to load. I've tried sending SE bug reports, but SE can never find its zipped exceptions folder, and I can't find it manually. Here are the details I have (also sent in as a bug report): I get three basic kinds of crashes: 1) the most common occurs when I try to save a game. The save-game screen freezes. If I switch out of the game, I get a popup
For crashes, make sure to use SmartException to capture details for the devs to debug with. For details on SE, see the 'making beta reports' sticky in the beta forum.
Which is a problem for me, because SE hasn't been doing what it is supposed to do. I'm going to try to reinstall when I get a chance. I'm assuming I'm the only one having this problem.

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the "tactical" (zoomed out) map symbols as follows: 1) so that PQ0 planets have a different symbol from PQ1; 2) so that different exotic planet types have different "small" symbols rather than all using the same icon when zoomed way out. Thanks!

SIMPLE REQUEST: I would very much like to see a different symbol for PQ0 and PQ1 worlds on the "tactical" map... PQ1 worlds are often diamonds in the rough, and it would be nice to be able to qujickly distinguish them from PQ0.

Like many people, I've been having lots of out of memory errors with 1.8e and 1.8f. The weird thing is, all but one of mine occurred during the save-game process (often, but not always, autosaves. One did occur during the setup of a very big game, with abundant stars and planests in a huge galaxy. What is even more unpleasant is that Smart Exception has not been generating its .zip file reports, making it difficult to report the problem. I have sent in a bug report by e-mail, though.<br
If you're on Vista, the best thing you can do is to simply add more memory.
I have 4 gigs, and a 7.5-15 gig cache, and mine crashes every other turn.

could answer your questions, but Frogboy might send his bee army after me! There should be more details released soon, though. Meaning he might send the dogs, and the bees, and the dogs with bees in their mouths that when they bark they shoot bees at you?

Nope, the Expanded Universe won't be a free update (but it won't cost an arm or a leg either). I'll pay. I'll pay now, if you want. If it was worth making a new expansion for, it has to be good! One point... "Expanded Universe" seems a little, er, corny (no offense)... Why not something more evocative, like "Galactic Conquest" or "Terran Revenge" or "Retu

Kryo, When you get a chance, would you mind reviewing (and hopefully approving) the update I just posted to my penatlies mod? Thanks, GP

But the only ones worth reading are this one and "Comprehensive(?) Carrier Proposal." You flatter! The major difference is that millertime's proposal does not let you carry fighters in excess of your logistics allotment, while the General Pants version does. Specialization of ships. Particularly in the early phase of the g

For what it is worth, there is a "shipyard" model in the basic GC2 package. I am currently re-texturing it, and it will be in my next jewel pack. A preview is below. Since this preview was made, I hae significantly enhanced the textures. WWW Link

RE: What to do with your labs once you have researched everything There is a mod called the "Office Party" (I believe), where you research a tech that removes all of your research facilities so you can build new stuff. I am (slowly) working on a "Super Techs" mod. Super Techs will be very expensive techs that give you some kind of cool product, but only after a whole lot of research. You can try to get them early in the game, at the expense of your whole research program, or la

Tennekis asked the following excellent question (in the Library): but what do u need something so big for, or is it aesthetic? Late in the game, I like to make my freighters very high speed, so they have less of a chance of beign intercepted. Also, I build very large troop transports, and I usually have to use Huge hulls for them. This way, I can build them on a cargo hull. When and if they make it so you can use more than one constructor module

Dude, Taco... getting a little excited there? General, are you related to Mr. Pants of Excessive Overkill, not that 4(1) parties is overkill, just wondering? Not that I am aware, apart from the most basic one (at the most somewhere between 75th and 150th cousins, probably much less). As it turns out, Pants is a relatively common pseudonymic suffix, bein

If I may suggest one you could make, assuming it isn't too difficult, I would suggest some sort of feathered dinosaur race, like a Dromaeosaurid. I know there was a discovery channel special a little while back called Dinosaur Planet that had rendered feathered versions of Velociraptor and Pyroraptor. I can email you pictures of them if you want. I can probably find some better pictures... Those CGI things tend to be a little off.

Sorry for the scare. On a side note, awesome mod, with perfecting I think Stardock would pay you for it. No problem. Glad you like the mod. I'd love to get paid for it, but I think technically StarDock already owns it (if they lawyered up correctly). Also, there would be an issue of who really deserves credit, since it's not a new idea. Besides, I imagine that StarDock would probably rather pay for programing and graphics; they seem to concentrate on b

was able to colonize a barren world, I used my additional points for barren world full colonization, but a while after I colonized it, it had 0% production on it. I fixed it though, by giving it to a minor race and useing a toxic ship on it, but i just figured I'd tell you. Let me get this straight: you used your customization points to buy barren world colonization, and then you couldn't build much on it? Ok, let's eliminate the obvious first: what did

Later in the game it can be a pain trying to cram everything you need into a regular cargo hull. Fortunately, your empire's commercial interests already have an answer, the "bulk cargo" hull. These hulls are used to carry extra-large loads, including spacedocks, mobile refineries, and even starship hulls. They can carry more, but they are no less fragile than their smaller counterparts. These hulls become available after you successfully research Large Scale Building. NOTES: -

Kryo, When you get a chance, would you mind reviewing a couple items for me? I just posted a minor update to my political parties mod (typos), and a new "Bulk Freighters" mod. Thanks, GP
