There is an even worse version of this. I have twice had the AI declare war on a race and set up his rally point in my space. The last time it was right in the middle of my empire (I had ~40 planets at the time, the rally point was not even close to his planets). This, without question, would trigger a war were I an AI. The AI should consider things like this when moving f

I was dissapointed with my last game when the final enemy between me and a Conquest victory surrendered with like, 12 planets still in his empire. Oh, I want to spare my citizens death in an unwinnable war! Stupid alien, you're Yor. I'm just going to dissassemble all of your 'citizens' and use their parts to build factories anyway.
I think LAN play is what people are most interested in. I can totally understand the desire for that, you know, a few buddies get together for a night of GC2. Internet MP would be something totally different. Why even bother with the LAN? Why not make a hot seat game mode? And Diem, you're talking like the developers have nothin
I know I'm going to take flak for this, but to be honest, I think online multiplayer for this game would be really boring. Especially on large maps, it can take a long time for you to do your turn, and what am I doing while you're talking to other races, outlining your development of several colonies, designing new ship types and setting waypoints for your ships? I'm sitting around staring at my non-moving screen. Do I even get to watch you do your thing? Of course I don't, 'cause that would
Here's what I do. First, I use the starting money to buy my first factory and my second colony ship, 'cause I hate waiting. I send my colony ship to the closest habitable planet, which I usually name "Trash Hole" because that's about what it qualifies as. My other colony ship goes to the next star, and if I'm lucky there's a class 12 or something there. (This one tends to get called New Trash Hole, but not for any real reason) I focus my research on new engines, 'cause I really ha
All I know is that I had to get the Doom Ray, since I play as a modified version of the Terran Empire, the Empire of Doom! Lead, naturally, by Dr. Doom.
Happy ta' help.
So, I just happened to have a saved game that had researched all the way up to the Doom Ray. According to the research screen, the Subspace Annihilator technology does not yield a new ship component, it only gives the Future Tech of Doom Ray. Plus, there wasn't one available in my shipyard. Oddly, I also noticed that despite being higher on the research tree, the Subspace Blaster does less damage and takes up more space than the Disruptor 3. Curious, that.
It would be cool, but I cant count the number of time I've seen the AI fill their planets with ships and then leave them there, never moving them! This also keeps them from building more from that planet. Now imagine what would happen if they tried to help you 'defend' your main shipyard... That's not too hard to work around. Give give whoever o
What might be fun is the ability to disable and capture an enemy ship if you could do just enough damage to disable it without destroying it, and you had the proper infiltration module. This would allow you to capture some unknown tech on the ship, which seems unbalanced at first glance, but if you think about it, if you have the ability to 'toy' with an enemy ship (ie, widdle slowly away at their health while they're all-out trying to kill you and still win) you're probably going to be ahead e
Two things: Firstly I'd like to say, Stardock has the best customer service ever. I won't go into why, but I love you guys. Oh, incidently, some combonation of updating to the newest version and (yet another) clean reinstall of my video drivers fixed the problem. I don't know which one did it, though.
Enhanced plantary combat. I know this game isn't about tactical plantary combat, but I'd still like to feel like an invasion is more than just a roll of the dice. Maybe give the abilty to use my warships for plantary bombardment to lower a planet's population by a small amount every turn or use tactical bombers to destroy key enemy defenses or something.
Did you check out my thread here? https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=162&aid=127231 I did read that thread and went though each step one by one. You can see from the error log that my drivers are up to date, my screen resolution is well above the minimum, my virtual memory is over 2 gigs, and my CPU isn't overheating because it doesn't
I replaced some hardware on my computer after the old parts got fried when my power supply died. (New motherboard, graphics card) I had GalCiv II on my computer before, and it ran just fine, but now it crashes on startup every single time after the intro movie, without fail. Here's what my error log says. Debug Message: Version v1.0X.2 last updated on: Tue Mar 7 15:02:59 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.******
