After all, can you imagine what would happen if you tried to make some sort of City simulation game today? People would expect to be able to zoom in on individual citizens and have breathtaking visuals but also expect it to take place on some giant map. The designers would have to either have to make the map you play on be really small or cut down the amount of detail or cut down the visual fidelity of the world/buildings (or a combination of all 3). It would be very diffi

Pretty simple. It appears as though an exit from the game back to the desktop via alt-tab leads to a crash for the game when I return. At the moment, China and the United States have a necessary and symbiotic relationship, regardless of political and ideological disagreements. This may eventually change as production current in China shifts to other Asian nations, including India. What is not often realized is that the services China provides to us can be, in time, replaced. However, what we provide to China may not be replaced so easily. There is a lot of concern about China's rapid growth, but realistically, it is

I can run it on medium at 1280x800 on a dual core with an 8600M GT. If I had to guess, I'd say you have the resolution pumped way up. Drop it down and try again. It should run at least decently, and contrary to what people are saying, it is an enjoyable game. Really!

I think that this may be a problem, specifically, with fleets, although I'm not sure. I'm having an issue where ships (a fleet) will not move when I select a destination that is more than four or five parsecs away. I know it's not a range issue, so it's pretty strange (for me). I can move them a few squares at a time, but never longer distances. The destination marker simply doesn't move. When I click a space, the ships will actually show in their statuses that they

I noticed the first bug this afternoon. It happened twice with a scout on auto-explore. Never seen it before.

Constantine and Fate, I love your ships. Please post more! The Terran Allied Systems Europa is clearly most powerful vessel in the Terran Defense Navy (TDN). Eclipsing previous designs, the Europa utilizes an advanced modular hull system, allowing for multiple configurations and faster construction. Additionally, the overall shape of the ship is sleeker and less cluttered, providing an opportunity for

My guess is Iron Star. Or Starclad. Or Iron Dock. I think Iron Star sounds best, but whatever. S'all good to me. I hope Stardock isn't being sold, although I don't suspect in the slightest that that is the case. But ooooh . . . I'm so excited.

That's quite a machine. Blah blah blah, does it run doom? Really though, what sorts of games have you been playing lately in your spare time? I bet you could run Supcom: FA on max settings. What a dream.

I play crippling, but I feel that this is as good an opportunity as any to say that the AI simply is not effective at fighting war. In my last game, I defeated the AI using only battleships and dreadnoughts, very rarely in pairs. The truth was while the Thalan Dreadnoughts I was facing were extremely tough, the AI never took them out of orbit to fight me, never proactively went after me, and never put the units into fleets. The AI does not adapt to what the player is doing mil

A medium-frigate might be MF-3 B10A10, signifying that it is the third frigate I've built and carries 10 points of beam weaponry and 10 points of armor. Once a ship is actually built, I will name it. I try and name each class' ships after a different group of gods. I.e., all MF-3 vessels will be Greek gods, all LS-1s (large ships) might be Roman gods.

Generally, I use very low quality planets (less than six) to build trade goods and research/economic facilities only. I do not specialize any other planets, as I largely play on medium maps. That said, any planet that has at least two factories that I don't foresee upgrading into something else will also have a starport. While these planets cannot build military vessels with any useful frequency, I like to have the pump out constructors at all times, since I use starbases widely.

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions. Unfortunately for me, updating my videocard drivers requires a download from laptopvideo2go.com (which I've done).

Whenever I exit a game, return to the main menu, and start a new game, the game crashes. Text will often change, in the loading screen, to a group of garbled, random characters. All of us consumers paid good money at Best Buy or Amazon for your game, Brad. Please reinvest some of that wonderful cash we gave you, several million dollars, and add multiplayer. We would appreciate it. We like your game. But your in the big leagues now. Quit whining about 1994 1200 baud modems. This is the 21st century. We have high speed internet and Gamespy. Add multiplayer. Thank you. You bought a game

A better idea would be to allow the UP to use ships from your military autonomously, while allowing you to retake control of them at any time. So, if you were the main contributor to the UP, you could both help them serve a moderately useful purpose moderately effectively while keeping them in your pocket and subservient enough that if they did something against you, you could ruin them by exiting.
