I'm impressed that you won; it looked like a very difficult game up until the end. I enjoyed it.

Uh, I get that message every time I build my first medium ship.
i have seen the ai use the same colony ship to colonize an entire system i think it was three planets That's not possible. Once a colony is established, the colony ship is destroyed. possible or not i watched the system for three turns and that what happened Right. Rush building.
I am looking forward to seeing how this ends. That said, I think that it will end soon. Generally speaking, I'd say that you made the correct strategic decisions. That said, had your first neighbor been anyone but the Drath, you'd probably be doing more than slightly better right now.
As said, you need to consider your military to be a deterrent. Why would I make friends with an Empire when I could just own it?
Honestly, yeah. If you don't play huge and gigantic maps (I sure don't -- ridiculously boring and labor intensive), trade is extremely useful.
You don't need to try to protect all your starbases! just as long as your in a position to intercept any inbounds. That's still protecting them!
I've managed to do this with a fair amount of success, although it's difficult for an isolationist to dominate the galaxy in any manner. Focus most heavily on defense and speed for shipbuilding, and spend no money on life-support. Build as many military starbases as you can afford; tailor them to the situation you're in, and defend them as well. If you're going to use a small number of fleets, don't let your starbases ever be vulnerable for any reason. They will boost your sp
I'd like to be the captain of a survey vessel.
I'm sorry, but neither the Dreadlords nor Kryo are real. I'm afraid that you may have been playing too much GalCivII.
I remember a game that I was playing in 1.3 versus all races. Over time, my diplomatic strategy had clearly promised me a loss, as the Drengin absolutely dominated nearly all of the galaxy. I was left to a strip of 4 planets and was surrounded on all sides. Most of my main battleships and dreadnaughts had lost their fighter and frigate support ships; I pulled them out of Drengin territory in preparation for the end. Playing as the Terrans, I built the omega defense system on Earth an
I download all the patches off this site. I have a copy of every patch from 1.2 to 1.4, not having DA yet.
Yeah, what about the Thalans?
I've found even in 1.3 and 1.4 that although the Arceans often fall early, they wield their military forces by far the most effectively.
I want Supreme Commander, to be sure, but I was planning to wait until I acquired a better computer even before this. Now I don't feel so bad about it.
Here is how I name classes: TN - Fighter SM - Heavy Fighter MD - Frigate LR - Battleship HG - Dreadnaught CV - Construction vessel CS - Colony ship MV - Merchant vessel MS - Mining ship TRT - Troop transport These two (or three) letters represent the size/type of the ship, in ascending order from top to bottom. To represent the power of the ship, I then include the type of damage or defense, and the associated number. If it is a non-co
No idea. I run a 2600 processor with 1.5 gigs of ram and an X850 pro, and I've never had any slowdown in the battle-viewer with DL. Dunno about DA though.
The biggest issue I have with starbases is survivability. While they are static, I generally have found that if you're building them on large maps, it's easy to gain enough constructors for a new one, and if you're building them on a small map, they (military starbases especially) don't need to be moved. But they die too easily. While I've some of my top-level bases do plenty of damage in the mid-game, they simply do not survive later on. Beyond simply needing to be more powerful, as
Wow, there's a $10 rebate? I did not know that, and subsequently will be buying DA a lot sooner than I thought.
I always assumed that it was intentional.
I uppose say hat tay i'll ave hay o tay eak spay ig pay atin lay ore may often. Also, it makes me so happy to see that this article doesn't refer to Chomsky as a political theorist or anything approaching it. Not that'd have any reason to to begin with.
My money is on Supreme Commander, as I still play Total Annihilation. I've never really enjoyed any of the Command and Conquer style games. TA is just so much more visceral. Command and Conquer: 3 looks very nice though.
I've never really understood concern about the cost of Industrial Sectors. While they are clearly expensive and take a long time to build, the production bonus, as Kryo said, is continuous. If you can't afford the extra cost and you need factories quickly, then I'd stick with the manufacturing center and then replace them as time goes by.
While the textures are nicer and the edges are more smooth, this seems really overwrought. I haven't seen most of the new graphical enhancements, having not played the beta, but judging on the media screenshots, all of the textures for ships and starbases seem more than slightly busy. I rather like the style of the old starbases and components, with their clean, unfettered design.] It's a lot like someone decided to see how many little polygonal shapes they could draw on to each compo
I've always found that the AI military is pathetic in the late stages of the game. With a similar tech level and two strong fleets, I usually wipe the floor with them on crippling. I want a strategy that makes the AI strong in the late game.
