Yes come to think about it this game is completely male dominated - no females at all! Thats quite sexist. Get some women into the game and you may increase your player base quite a bit. Nats

The problem I have with any sequel to GC2 is that it would have to be radically different for me to buy it. Similarly with the expansion. I dont know whether it is just me but games like this where you have loads and loads of technology to research just makes me keep clicking on the next technology choice without even thinking. Its just not fun. Similarly with the planetary buildings - I usually just keep clicking on the next building and dont really think what I am doing. After a few

Carriers are in Space Empires 5. Youll just have to get that if you want to to use them until GC develops further to enable this kind of gameplay. Actually I find GC to be a jumble of ideas myself. On the one hand it seems to be trying to treat space warfare in a broadbrush type of way but then it zooms into the detail with individual designed spaceships. Teh developers need to make up their mind which way the game is going and stick to it. Space Empires seems to have a mon

I agree particualrly with the survey module etc - all the anomalies are gone by the tenth turn! Disagree on the freighters - my last gameI was earning 130 per turn with trade although admittedly some was from other race's trade routes. Most pointles thing in the game for me generally is starbases! They are such a waste of time generally - what is the point in them? Arguably the only one youll ever need is the influence one to spread your borders. But surely one o

When are we going to hear any news about the next patch? And how is Dark Avatar coming along? Please update your news section.

You cant get rid of the spacestations on the minimap whereas everything else can be turned on or off. This is a little bit annoying because it makes seeing the ships a bit more tricky etc. Not really a bug though.

eg: Each ship type with different ship component slots that fit into the theme/function of the ship. ie: Transport with components that allow more Cargo pods, or extra fuel tank, or limited slots for weapons (rather than an unarmed transport). Ditto for Battleships: ship components geared towards Trargeting Computers, or more armor/shields, or more maneuovering thrusters f

If you like these kinds of games the various ones I can recommend are: Space Empires 4 - great for playing in different ways such as using carriers and fighters, loads of options, almost no way you cant play the game. The limitations are that it revolves aroundwarp points so these become bottle necks for defending which is limiting in terms of gameplay, it is topdown view only and graphics are getting oldish, and although you can play the battles tactically these are quite boring afte

The AI is only balanced on 'intelligent' After that the AI gets extra bonuses etc. Below that the AI is penalised. Therefore to play a balanced game play against intelligent civs all the time. Wouldnt suprise me if the Galciv 2 AI can cheat at higher levels. The Civilisation 4 AI also cheats on every level, makes the game unplayable IMO.

Having your planets moving around would not only be confusing, but a massive pain since you'd have to constantly be updating your ships' targets to chase down the right planet... Well the ships target could update automatically as it would be just turn based movement. I agree that would be rather difficult to sort out but it wuld be nice to see

If anyone would like to add their top five items to be adding in a sequel I would be very interested to hear them as I'm sure would the developers. I know there was a recent poll about this but I didnt see anything expressed in there that I actually would like to see in this game. Maybe the options werent very flexible?. Anyway heres the top five items I would like to see in the sequel in order of importance: 1. Solar orbiting planets, realistic solar systems, varying star

I tried registering lately and found that I got a registration invalid message and and email address not found message when trying through stardock. Im sure now it was becuase the game I got had been returned and was registered by someone else before me hence my inability to register it a second time. If this is possibly the case with you (dont know how you bought it) you will need to speak to Stardock and generally expect a two-three working day wait for a response. Cant comment on t

The only reason the Yor eat like us and have to create farms etc is because the game mechanics are set up like that for all the other races and it would have been too difficult to change them for one race. Sorry to burst peoples bubble here but perhaps in a sequel we may get a truly alien race or races that actually work entirely differnetly from one another ie not all requiring farms, research facilities, diplomacy centres, entertainment centres etc. The fact is that this game is qui

I bought Galciv 2 from Game Ltd and couldnt register it. After waiting a few days for Stardock to reply I decided to take the game back and get another copy, which registered fine. I was lucky that Game accepted my argument. In fact they were probably in the wrong for selling a presold game that had obviously been returned. Others havent been that lucky and are stuck with a pretty useless game. Im sure that if this online activation (for that is what Stardock are doing theyre just cal

Trying to be patient. Failing horribly at it. If its any concilation the second patch doesnt add a massive amount to the game and I cant see any difference at all after adding the tutorial, multimedia and video downloads. The 1.10 patch seems to make the game worse than the v1.00 in that there are bugs in the ship design screen etc. The main t

This recently happened to me and I took the game back (see separate post below). I think it was the fact that someone had already bought the game, activated it, and then returned the game to the shop. So when I bought it I was buying software that had a

Hi Further to the set of emails sent to Stardock recently (see above) and not having received any response from them today I took the game back to the shop for a refund. I have since bought another copy of Gal Civ 2 and I registered that copies serial number perfectly well. So it seems obvious to me that the original game I got (see serial number at bottom of this post) was bought by someone, registered, and then they took the game back to the shop for a refund. And so when I bought i

I would definitely like to have some sort of supply effects in the game other than the rather vague notion of the area of effect starbases. The main problem with this game is it isnt very realistic in terms of how we know travel and warfare to be carried out ie supply lines being one of the most important things you need to get sorted and hitting an enemies supply lines can badly affect their ability to make war. This should be in the game. Fuel/supplies are in Stars! and Space Empire

Did you use the same address as your Stardock or Stardock Store account? Check your spam folder/filter. You should have gotten an autoreply acknowledging your email. If you received that, it has specific instructions on how to follow up. Hmmm I wonder if this is why I cant register my serial number. I never thought of looking in

I also dont like the way the sound keeps getting reset every time a start up a saved game. I keep having to reset the sound volume every time I start a game which gets rather annoying. I agree that these bugs are frustrating and should be fixed as they sound quite simple to fix. Nats

My only concern is that there is a limit on how long Game Ltd will accept a no quibble refund I think. Probably a week. And I bought it on Friday. I could take it back and consider buying another hopign the serial number will be ok. But I cant help thinking that the problem is at Stardocks end not with my serial number and therefore now I have tried to register a game once it probably will never work with any serial number. I'll probably just wait and see what happens. I might pop int

Battleship would have more combat-oriented ship component slots (see 1a below), whereas transports would have more cargo component slots and a few "general" component slots that let players choose between putting in a few weapons, a fuel tank for better range, better armor/shield, or simply add in yet another cargo pod. (So no more cheesy morphing your transport into a re

I really like Space Empires 4. I played Stars! as well. Im just getting into GalCiv2 (had it for two days). Stars! is brilliant via email and is still the best of the three in my opinion becuase of the minefields and affects of fuel etc as well as the open space between systems which means you can be attacked from anywhere - far more reslitic than Space Empires. Minefields are truly brilliant. Also having to support transport ships etc is great. But visually Stars! in terrible these d

Its not a collectors edition of the game so I only have one serial number. I wish manufacturers would leave 1 and 0 out of serial numbers altogether or alternatively programme them to accept either zero or O and L or 1 for the numbers/letters so theres no mistake. What happened to making these tests foolproof which is the way I was tought how to program? Wouldnt help me though I have tried both and neither have worked.
