Thanks for all the replies guys. Gonna go load up my game and test out everything I've just read here. You've answered all my questions and it makes a lot more sense now. Lol, I was getting very frustrated when I posted this last night, can't wait to play and put everything into practice!

Hey all, Go easy on me, Galciv newbie here. Getting a little frustrated. I'm wondering if there is a more efficient way of finding and moving my ships. Currently I open the planet/ship window and 1 by 1, click on each frame and manually move my craft, and I do this every single turn. Gets a little tedious...isn't there a checkpoint system where you simply click on the final destination where you'd like your ship to end up and it automatically moves toward it every turn? <br
Thanks kryo, that's what I'm running a 7950. So far no problems with my custom profile. I'll wait and see if Nvidia releases any more drivers. Though not really necessary, game runs at 75fps or more always.
Thanks everyone for the replies! I used to have coolbits installed but I suppose the last official Nvidia drivers erased the settings. I downloaded and installed the registry changes and overrode the rez and refresh rates in the control panel...works like a charm! One last question for anyone who reads this and has SLI...Since Galciv doesn't appear to have a profile I created one and was wondering what settings gave the best results? Split frame, AFR1, AFR2 or single GPU? A
Hi all, My desktop is set at 1024x768 and 100 refresh. I like to play DA at 1280x1024 and my monitor supports 85 refresh at that rez. The only problem is that DA doesn't let me play that way, I get the frequency not supported message. I've been getting around that by manually setting my desktop to the settings that I play DA on and then switching back when I'm done. It works, but it's a bother. Is there a way to edit the games Ini file so it automatically switches to the correct refresh
Thanks a lot for the replies guys! Many, many useful bits of info. I feel better knowing I was not the only one who felt like he was "missing" something at the beginning. I'm definitely going to keep playing incorporating what I've read here. Very helpful community, good times.
Thanks very much for the replies so far. The funny thing is, even not knowing how to play the game, there is still something about it that draws me back. I mean, if I didn't really want to learn, I wouldn't have bothered posting at all. I'm gonna go play again today and not worry so much that I have no idea what I'm doing, and see what happens! Edit: Oops, somehow made a new topic when all I wanted was to post in mine...even in the Galciv FORUMS I'm a failure <img src="http://i
I'm pretty new to the whole 4X gameplay style. The first game I played was the recent Civ 4. I really got into that game, but what killed it for me was the AI. I mostly play solo, and the AI was just not believable. So, when I learned of this game, and how much importance was placed on the AI I thought it sounded promising. Well, I've had GalCiv 2 for a week now, and I'm kind of frustrated. I don't generally think of myself as a stupid person, and yeah, I've read the game manual...and also
