how do i activate mods? i have the human factions mod but it still shows normal alien races...? how do i do it?

this has also happened to me, apparently the torian leader dude was killed by a former worker of my biggest company when they were having a business meeting with the leader and it caused war naturally. SOOO then i beat them up pretty bad and they allowed peace to be(but wars between us were not over)

i just want to hear what it sounds like and it seems kinda strange without sound, the main thing is that it should be working because sound when i'm not in that game, as far as i know, works just fine.

i have heard no sound from the game since i got it so i'd called that a bug... i could have sworn i'm supposed to be able to here my top of the line(hehe) ships fire and also the background music as i have seen gameplay footage
