Sorry to my team for not posting a game. This is one of the reasons why I never want to be in charge. I'm in a big case, and will not be able to be active here at all until August 2nd at the soonest. Good luck all! Seems like a close round. ~ Wyndstar

When you get high reviews, high sales and a rabid fanbase that continues to play your games for more than 10 years there is more than just smoke, there's fire. Check the Diablo II ladder or Starcraft tournaments if you don't think that many people aren't still playing those games 10 years later. Those people aren't still playing those games because they were tricked by clever marketing hype. It seems that for whatever reason you don't appreciate what Blizzard has done in the past and w

Yeah, forget a ZYW. This one is exceptionally difficult to blitz in. My first two games were both 3 years, but I still think I might be able to get it down to 2, maybe possibly. Will take a slightly non-traditional approach to do though. ~ Wyndstar

I'm in. I've said it before, but I have no interest in being the captain of a team, too much of a time commitment for what I can spend on GCII right now. Good luck all, ~ Wyndstar

I've also experienced the problem, although for me it makes the game a lot easier. I prioritize research from the getgo, so when the doubling of costs start I'm usually several tiers in tech above all AIs. Its especially tasty with tech trading off. But, it needs to be fixed because it does pretty much cripple every AI. They stop getting tech, and then have no way to respond to any attacks. ~ Wyndstar

The real reason to separate the ladders is that in ToA the MCC no longer provides a +100% econ bonus, AND many races don't get access to the MCC anyway. Given this situation it is simply not possible to get close to the same score in TA as it is in DL or DA. ~ Wyndstar
It carries over towards the next tech in line. If you get your research high enough, you can complete two, or even three techs in a single turn.
Depending on the tech rate and how high you get your tech production, you can actually finish over a dozen techs a turn. Mistralok gives good advice, I just didn't want you thinking it capped at 3 techs in a turn. ~ Wyndstar

Actually, Thalan AI has done OK in my last 3 games, so I retract my "feedback" to buff them further. ~ Wyndstar
Hope Wyndstar answers your question .
Thanks, but I'm unlikely to reveal the strategy I used while the round is still in progress. But its not like I got it right the first try. If you check my Random character you will see I played 8 games last night, all tiny tech victories. It took me 7 fails before I got a situation I liked. ~ Wyndstar

Seriously, how did I get talked into ANOTHER itsy bitsy map with NO tech trading going for a rush tech victory? Wasn't this combo sadistic enough the first time? And this time no Super Abilities either?? At least the tech speed was VF and not F. I really feel the difference between those two more now. I would have tried to do this in TA, but for some reason all of my TA metaverse and tou
Did you delete the folder in My Documents/My Games?
yes I did.
You may need to clear out the registry entries as well for a total fresh install.
What do I need to do for this? It effects my Tournament games too, btw, which is very sad for me, the Tournament games were the #1 feature I wanted from TA. I can still play sandbox games fine, but its very frustrating having everything cheat flagged. ~ Wyndstar

1. Hard to not want a change to the Mind Control Center. The single most contentious building in the whole game. If you only "fix" it for TA, TA will not be competitive for MV scores however, as long as you can still get the +100% economics in DA and DL. I'm just saying... - TA is NOT competitive for MV scores NOW, btw, because the MCC does nothing in TA. 2. Oh, and to the best of my knowledge I'm not in fact using any cheats for it to detect. Minor detail that I was assuming in the first post above. ~ Wyndstar

Hello Stardock and generally knowledgable forum users, I have a problem with my TA version. Whenever I click on the "metaverse" button, before I have a chance to log in, I get a pop-up telling me that the game has detected cheat codes. After I log in, no matter what game I make, the finished game does indeed come up flagged as a cheat code. Now I uninstalled all of my beta/gamma versions for TA and re-installed the expansion from scratch, and yet the problem persists.&n
Total War......not a good idea when you don't want to anger a dozen other nations, beside the one you are fighting.
Weren't they already mad? Total War is how you win wars. There are many books written on how Sherman's march to the Sea where he just butchered southern town after southern town was what really broke the will of the South in the American Civil War. In anyt case, that needed to be part of the calculation before deciding to resume the war after it had been
You didn't quote anything.
It was the second post in the thread. I was incorporating by reference the entire first post. That PC gaming will never die completely I agree with. That doesn't mean the dearth of lots of high-quality PC titles in a variety of generes every month is representative of a healthy market. Money matters in business, and money in PC gaming seems to be more and more scarce. I'm interested both as a gamer, and as an investor. <

In the $18.65 billion dollar industry that is electronic gaming, last year PCs FELL from $970 million to $910 million. That is pretty much the opposite of growth.
Mods are free. That is an axiom of PC gaming.
An axiom is an internally self-defining truth that requires no external proof to be evident. Mods, or independent content created to enhance the content available to licensed IPs owned by a third party are NOT by definition free. That this discussion is happening is proof of the contrary.
