I've read a lot of threads in this forum over the last 3 or so days, and I don't quite know how I missed this one previously, but this has some invaluable insights and clear concise information. Thanx!

I hate necro-ing a thread, but the last few messages on here really sparked me... I love the concept of X3: Reunion, with or without the mods, but as denyasis says, the UI is horrible. I had to stop playing it altogether because it's an excercise in frustration, irritation, anger, and tedium trying to use their UI. Worst UI design I'd ever seen in a game, or anywhere for that matter... And as I said, it's a total shame because it's a great game in concept.
Actually, I was searching through my GalCiv 2 directory structure, and lo and behold I found a PDF file named GalCiv2BeginnersGuide.pdf that appears to be exactly this same "walkthru" given here... So there is a printable version, and I assume it comes with the game now?
Is there a printable version of this anywhere? If I print via the browser, it's a black background, which is a lot of ink...
While I know this is not an RTS game, the campaign of most of them (RTS) are sort of an introduction to concepts and how certain things in the game works. Can this be said of the campaign of GalCiv2? Or are we purely at the mercy of ignorance in regards to what's available to us in the gmae?
Thanks... I ordered and downloaded DA, and when I get home I'll try this whole epic turn based universal domination thing another crack... Too bad it wont run on my laptop, now I gotta wait til 10:30 PM... ARGH!
So I can then install both vanilla and the expansion, click the expansion's desktop icon, and still be able to play the vanilla campaign?
I purchased Galactic Civilization II: The Dread Lords quite a while ago (over a year or so I think), but honestly I never really got into it or played it. I'll be honest, I was completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options and information in this game. And not being familiar with grand scale turn based games, I was completely lost as to what I should have been doing each turn. Especially in the beginning. I know there was/is a tutorial, but it wasn't a playable tutorial, just videos,
I'm not really grasping this game very well, so I'm hoping that I can get a few pointers. I know there's a whole slew of tips and whatnot in the forums, and then there's the Beginner's Guide at https://www.galciv2.com/Journals.aspx?AID=104908 which has been helpful, but I'm still failing to grasp some key component. First of all, my PC gaming experience is with RTS, RPG, and a few FPS thrown in for good measure. When I click an action or a command, I'm used to seeing the results of
How do you stop the building?
Am I missing something or doing somethin gincorrectly? If I build a ship, it seems to keep building new ones. I click on a colony ship, go through a few turns, my ship gets done, but then when I check the queue another one is already being built. Is this supposed to happen? I realize that wanting mulitple colony ships is probably desirable, but I didn't expect the game to keep chugging them out on their own...
thanx to everyone who's responded... I'll give it a whirl... On a bit of a completely different note, this has to be one of the more friendly and helpful forums... Helpful, insightful answers instead of flaming me for a noob, and telling me to go play something else.. Thanx, not only for the advice, but for the friendlyness of your responses as well...
I've been reading the forumshere and at GameFAQs, and any other information about this game that I could find... And I'm curious whether or not I would enjoy it. Of course I don't expect you to tell me if I'll enjoy playing it or not since you don't know me, but I was hoping you could answer a few questions for me. I tend to have a short attention span due to the limited time I have available to play a game, but the games that go to quickly aren't of much interest to me. I like lon
