Yeap! I figure I better get my gaming in now! Although I have warned my wife I will be killing aliens while rocking Penny(Penelope). "See the pretty colors the aliens make while blowing up? Yesss, that makes me happy too!"

Thanks! I appreciate the well wishing! We have an induction date if she runs late already, so a day or two early would be ideal. My wife has had gestational diabetes, so they don't want her running late at all. We are enjoying it very much!

I think it's amusing how many GC II players seem to have IT ties. Based on what I have seen over months, it's a very very high number.

Well, I'm 36 on June 9th, so I guess I qualify. First game was a text base game on a hospital mainframe where my dad worked. My first home computer was a KayPro II, so I know all about playing Donkey Kong on 9 inch green monitors! I never did do too much arcade stuff, but Battlezone was the first one I looked for when I went into an arcade. I have played pretty much all the TBS games on the PC. I always favored TBS games, but Civilization really cemented it. I played it fo

2) In the governors screen, trying to switch from starport construction to starship rally points freezes my computer (as in I have to hit the reset button). This is repeatable for me and it's new with Beta 4. OK, I can't get this to reproduce with a new game. Can you please send me your save game so that I can try it with that? Ca

I think we still have some mini-map problems. 1) Bringing up the pick a rally point screen (select T when a ship is selected) doesn't bring up a mini-map at all. I seem to get semi-random junk. The box works fine otherwise. 2) In the governors screen, trying to switch from starport construction to starship rally points freezes my computer (as in I have to hit the reset button). This is repeatable for me and it's new with Beta 4.

Where I can see where the OP is coming from games like these and their "TECH TREES" that are LINEAR and the same structure everytime get boring. Now, if anyone has played the new CIV IV you would have found they changed this tech tree linarity by allowing you to advance beyond having to do everything in a specific order. What these types of games tech trees need is breakthru teching at various random times in the game. Yeah it can give someone an a

Yes indeed. She is our first. Due date is the 27th, but I wouldn't be surprised to see her show up a bit early.

Sigh...RL has been holding me up. Not sure if I will get it in this weekend or not, but I suspect not. Plus my baby is due any day now. Looks like you may get to play keep away with the shiny for a bit longer!

As you can probably guess from my ranking, I've found gaming the game for points to be entertaining. The whole "I've won the game, but is Y worth more points than X?" thing can keep you busy for quite some time. Mostly because it forces you to really learn every part of the game and use it for maximum advantage.

90% of all my surfing, downloading, etc.. is done at work. What do I have employees for if I can't delegate my work to them? That's efficient management! "I'd love to do these 15 employee reviews, but I'm busy posting. Have them done by Monday, will you?" It's good to be the king! Poor Oz! You are sadly behind the times. You need to take it to the next

I think the 'Vets' are looking to 750K + now ,on both DA and DL .. Depends a lot on what you are doing. My 136K huge game was my first really big DA game. Just straight up, little or no cheese and ending on the first Dec 22nd after I could. But otherwise, Cardassian is right, I'm looking for 750K + now and trying to put together the pieces for a million...But this is really stretching the game.

Hyperthreading for the bonus round! It's almost four years old, but I did go with PC3200 at the time instead of PC2700 like everyone else and that is worth as much as a faster CPU.

I think I know how defense is working under the very latest patch, but I am definitely not sure any more...I'm hoping someone else out there is sure and will reply. If not, I'll go through how I think it currently works. I do know that if you make a ship with ~twice the total attack value of the enemy fleet/ship it becomes almost indestructible. Which is at least useful from the practical side. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 align="absm

I think this is a touch easier way to illustrate/understand the difference. The Positonic Torp II is: Cost 70 Firepower 15 or 70/15 = 4.7 Cost per point of damage (rounded) The BHE is: Cost 160 Firepower 25 or 160/25 = 6.4 Cost per point of damage I ran through all the weapons at one point and the Positonic Torp II had the best ratio in the game. I don't think any of the numbers have changed since then. Mind this isn't the only consideration and if

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.60GHz (2 CPUs) Physical Memory: 2048MB RAM Page File: 196MB used, 5792MB available Chip Type: GeForce FX 5200 Display Memory: 128.0 MB It's really a one CPU system not two. Why it gets misread is a long story... I finished my last game under an early Beta 1.6 release. When I started seeing system issues the last game it wasn't from memory usage, but looked like it could be graphic redraw stuff (which was their focus for p

What sort of an example are you setting for the younger players here Good multi-tasking skills! And that if you work smart, not hard, you can dramatically reduce your workload! Seriously, we do twenty to thirty times the traffic compared to what I inherited three and a half years ago and my workload is about a third of what it used to be since I h

And I am expecting a record score for me. I'm about nine months to a year ahead of the 588K game. The improved performance on the last version of DA should let me score more as well. I had been running into system performance limitations and those are further out now.

The Positronic Torpedo II is particularly cost effective. I tend to use it for the end game battles since I can produce Huge ships with it in much greater quantities than a BHE....Especially if they are just going to be destroyed.
