I had the same problem in another game with the G5 mouse on the girlfriend's computer. So I used Logitech's Setpoint software to 'reprogram' the mouse so that tilting the wheel to the left was the same as pressing the middle mouse button [the scroll wheel can be pressed to activate the MMB but I found I couldn't reliably press it - it would almost always ended up tilting to the left or right].
