The right to peaceful assembly has always existed, even before the modern "criminal Gang". The Criminal Syndicalism statutes were deemed unconstitution as they were too wide in thier use as anti-sedition acts. Look at the Language of the Criminal Syndicalism act. "...accomplishing industrial or political reform..." That phrase limits it to essentially anti-gov't/society groups. A group of criminals (like a Gang), wouldn't apply unless they were advocating violent gov't reform or inciti

SIHS? - Just curious as to what it is - Well I think its a High School, but one never knows, lol. --- My Summer plans: -Friend's wedding -Job related Expo -Visit Friends and In-laws and do stuff. -My family will be visiting (Job related conference) in the area, so I'll be looking forward to that. -Building a litter box for the cats -Building an entertainment center out of an old Magnavox radio (circa 1960's) - That's more of a long term pr
Life is never simple, however much we would wish it, or claim it to be.
Very true. On a side note, I saw an article on the news last night(I beleive it was ABC). Apparently, with the climbing Inmate population, and the declining tax revenue, Staes (they mentioned Ky Specifically) have started releasing inmates out of prison early (starting w/ the lowest offenders) and are pushing for more CCS sentences (Community Control Sanctions - ie - everything from counseli
Interestingly, this is Off-Topic forum seems to be a Stardock-wide Forum (I lack a better term), hence it exists in the forums of other games as well (Galciv2, for example).
Then, I told you why plea deals were wrong. You apparently agree with me almost entirely but think that few percent that will get away is worth doubling the crime rate for.
Of course, I never said such a thing. I merely explained to you the reasons why the Plea deal exists and it used. Yes, they are over used, but as someone with first hand experience in the Justice system, I can tell you there are some(few) cases where it is warranted and the system has a whole, understa
There's nothing wrong w/ being a nerd!! Those who insult/bully/make fun, only do so because they themselves are compensating for thier own shortcommings. That and they know there's no way they could beat us in a game of risk :-) Hell, we're so harcore we even have the original wooden peices too! Our Army of Pink Cubes and Oblongs will Pwn Those Noobs!! :-)
ps - no edit button here, lol - sorry to bouble post
This is tied in, I believe, to another recent behavior change- the amount of time it takes for a reply to be added from the thread onto the front page.
I've noticed the same thing and possibly an additional coincidence. If I close my browser after posting (it clears the cache and Cookies on exit) and reopen, the reply and edit button show up as soon as I load the page (most of the time). -or- If I travel to the thread via a different route (like going t
Wow - you have one hell of a Dr.! Most I've run into don't realy seem to care at all... I wish you luck with your suit, I really doubt the city trying to fight it all the way, especially considering your evidence and documentation.
Spacepony; I'm not sure what its called in PA, but when you speak to the ACLU, you might want to talk to them about a Moral Obligation type Claim (Ie, suing the City/state for damages). By giving you an incorrect sentence, the city is technically responsible for your losses as a proximate result of the sentence (ie loss of job, home, etc). Your burden is generally lower in civil court and all you would need to prove is the sentence was the probable cause of your loss. <br/
I have found out I have an illegal sentence. The only effect is that my parol will be terminated as soon as I file an ammended pcra...
That is Great News! I wish you luck with it! I'm actually fairly surprised that you got any significant time over the incident. Even with the phone call issue, its clear you were not the primary agressor. I'm really surprised a jury would convict you.
It's bullshit, utter bullshit. The rest of your views on the evils o
I agree in principle with forced treatment for addicts/mentally ill. For the addicts, I think it could be potentially possible by setting up an addict specific jail with the primary goal of treatment. The problem with that is that the treatment would be ineffective. Being treated for an addiction means learning to live your normal life with out the drug. Treatment in a jail, no matter how well done, cannot substiute for "normal life". Also once released, the support systems in the jail
Lesser crimes (misdemeanors) --> jail Greater crimes (Felonies) --> prison These are totally different systems in both their organizational strucure and their function in society. Not to mention they vary from State to State. I would like to share some of my experiences from teh other end of the system. For the most part, I agree with your analysis, Spacepony. I have a few differences and some imput I would like to share. -Drug Addicts- Like you said, a go
What about nature? There have been other sentient species on Earth other than Humanity. Our cousins the Neanderthals for one. Its possible that another could emerge. I think the big question there would be, would we let it? Unlike an AI it not something we can keep in a jar and press teh erase button if we don't like how it behaves. We don't have the control over nautre that we would prefer. If say a group of organisms become sentient, and starts trying to settle and e
I used to do genetic mutations and happen to know a good amount behind the science, including to a lesser extend the GM foods, specicfically Golden rice and BT corn. The major Probelem with GM foods is public relations. People are scared of Mutated foods. It has a stimga attached to it. MUTATION! RUN! Its the same as the stigma attached to Nuclear from the days of the Cold War (hence you go to the Doctor for an MRI, not an NMR, the name was changed to remove the N - nuclear when the tec
Hmm I might have to give 2 a try again. I got it a while ago, but just couldn't get into it very much.
I've always had time outs since 2006. Again, once the page starts to load, its pretty quick, but in most instances I'm waiting 20sec- 1min+ for the page to start loading oafter clisking on a link. Not a huge deal, I do a lot of multi-tasking - so I'm not too irked by it or anything. I always just figured the forums were under heavy use compared to teh server size/ability
There is a XML file in the GCII data folder(or something like that) that lists all the megaevents as well another two which list UP events and Random events.
Really? Do you mind pointing me there? I've been looking for such a file but all I have found is the English.str file, which lists the window text for all the events (and almost everything else). The UP file is UPissues.xml. It does list every issue, and appears that you could mod it a little if you wished t
Theres also the Plague that takes away all abilities. The route to a cure is the same as the population killing plague I believe you left out the one where people have less morale due to taxes. I guess its similar to the other one where your people are less happy. Or is this the same one? Theres the economic boom one. The one where a minor has stollen all the techs from another race and will trdae then for star systms. I have never gottn the minior to trade me t
Its Off Whenever I'm not home or am asleep; After All Why wear down the parts if I'm not using them? I just turn it on at 4 when I wake up. Auto update/various scanning is at 6 while I'm making/eating dinner and watching the evening news. Its off by 10:30 when I leave for work. Turns back on around 7:30 when I come home and Its off and I'm in bed usually by 9 or 10.
Zipped, packaged, and sent. Thanks for the info and help. Hopefully it'll get fixed or something soon :-)
hmmmm got one or five: 1)- Battle Veiwer - Allow for the ships to fire and explode simultaneously (both sides). We all know the combat is most likely computed a head of time (hence why w can push the Done button and get teh results at any time). It's kinda awkward with the one at a time firing. In addition its also awkward when the last ship of losing fleet is registered destroyed, but still flys around for a good 10-15 sec as it still has to fire, and then "mysteriously" blows up. Simp
Please take note: here is Disease and there is Plague. They are Different. Plague will kill your citizens. Disease will not - they are "apathy stricken" and assumingly, less productive. Hence the reason why my entire empire went to zero immediately after the event triggered. That was not fun. This is about the Disease. You can check the English.str file (in notepad/wordpad) and read the event window text. They are different and identified differently
I did look on the large tech map, and was unable to find it. Although with the new tech trees, it might have been in an area where the normal "green" xeno biology tree is not. I'll send the zip as soon as i get home - business trip. Thanks for the info.
Crap! no edit! I think I figured it out. Once in teh Mods selection screen, you must click "Default" and it will switch to the Twilight directory. I had just assumed the "Default" button would switch the the "defualt" mod directory in DL. Works fine now. Odd that it does that though.
