True...but I bet you'll have to spend another $2500 in a year or two... Sorry for bumping but I just wanted to say thank you for implementing the "simple explosions" option in the most recent update...it solved all my explosion problems! Its been said before but it bears repeating, god bless Stardock for listening to and responding to user criticism!

The R:TW tactical AI is *appalling*. Humans frequently defeat the AI on Emperor with 10-1 odds. I've never lost a battle unless the odds reach 8-1. Yeah, let's have AI like that! The R:TW challenge is strategic, as the tactical side is so laughably easy. Exactly what I was trying to get across...Just look at Homeworld 2, the AI needs about 4x
I'd love to see tactical battles of some description as long as it can be implemented effectively. Anything from simply different advantages to different weapons (like fast weak lasers vs slow powerful missiles for example) all the way up to full control of the ships and the ability to target different systems on enemy ships...if they implemented it some way i'd be happy However, i personall

If you turn off the option that makes the camera focus on attacks, does that stop it? (Or does it just keep you in the dark too much?) It does seem to stop the long pause problem...and as long as you keep on your toes its not too much of a pain to deal with. However I notice that the dread lords still seem to pay a lot o undue attention to my
So you've got to complete any game you play in one sitting? Any game started in 1.2a Actually, I only started getting this bug when I upgraded to v1.2beta....it affects any ship i made in any previous save game from 1.2b or before.
Bump de bump bump bumpy I played the game today with v1.2 beta in the campaign mode vs the dread lords (apocalypse). I got tired of my routes being continually nerfed so i built the privateer. Now every time a dread lord attacks one of my freighters the view zooms to that position and i can't move the camera away for a period of a couple of minutes. The freighter isn't destroyed, it just looks as if its about to be attacked then isn't. This is incredibly annoying as my freighters
I still have the jewlery vanishing bug when upgrading ships. Is anything going to be done about this in the new version? I personally never had this problem before 1.2 beta but now it happens in all of my games. It only effects ships brought in from previous games or when i reload my game from a saved game. All the jewelry disappears from m
To be honest i've found the campaign a lot easier under 1.2 than under previous versions. Thats probably because I play more defensively against the dread lords...barricading my planets on the front line with 5+ fighters and an orbital fleet manager...the ships get an attack/defence bonus due to being in orbit and due to the changes to the combat system the dread lords can't use their first strike advantage to take out loads of my ships before i can respond. Just sit tight and wait for them to
Thanks for clearing that up!
It's like weapons, where if you have one all the assits work. So if a ship has one shield, and the base gives +3 +3 +3 Your fighter will have 4 shields, 3 armour and 3 point defence. Are you sure about that? My understanding was if you had shields on your ship then you got shield assist but not point defence and armour.
Oh dear...seems like GalCiv2 is a man's world after all....silly of me to get my hopes up that the game may be a little more mixed gender than some hyper-violent shoot em up...
Errrr... maybe the explosions are so cool so that those of us who have a 1/2 way decent computer can actually see some decent graphics?? You can turn the explosions off for your dinosaur running Win98.... don't expect the rest of us to be blinded and crippled to make things more "fair". Maybe some of us have better things to do than fuel bill
I'd love to see nebulae that you could hide ships in! As in make it impossible for ships outside the nebulae to see ships inside the nebulae...then launch surprise invasions on unsuspecting worlds!
Totally agree that the AI should have the ability to surprise attack. If you're paying attention to the stats and you notice it significantly increasing its military and/or constructing many a transport along with a rapid drop in relations then it's very easy to work out when the AI is about to get mean. I'd like to see the likelyhood of surprise attacks linked to ethics in someway...i'd expect the Drengin to suddenly land on my worlds and butcher my populace but i'd like the Torians to ask po

Er...influence DOES bring in revenue. If you check the domestic policy screen there's a weekly income from "Tourism" which is directly linked to your overall galactic influence. Expanding your borders via starbases etc brings in additional revenue due to aliens coming over and buying postcards...or
